Virus and the Real Man. Someone could win an Oscar for best documentary about a man seeking man-doll eating snails.

Sweet,

No. But this past weekend I spent 45$ on a couple of really nice filet mignon, about another 20$ on escargot, with a nice 30$ bottle of red wine, with a strawberry shortcake to snack on later. Granted that was all I ate all day but it was worth it. You might try cutting back on cheap beer and cigs so you can afford to do something like this once in a while.

Unfortunately, I don't waste my money on any of those frivolities and instead choose to save that money. Shocking, innit

45+20+30 =/= 150

the other $55 must have been for the escort.

Not when discussing the price of dinner, no.

I'm not a big fan of tenderloin. I think it's overpriced and not really that good. I mean it's delicious of course, but when comparing it with other cuts I don't think it's worth the price.

Sweet,

It is shocking. I would rather invest in gold than save. But I guess that's the difference between us.
I don't see where a full-time student would get the income to make any reasonable investments, but whatever. Keep feeling smug about the fact that you can waste more money than a college student!!!!

Bard,

You realize everything I just said didn't pertain to a dining experience but actually me going to the fresh market to purchase everything then going back to the house to cook it right?

And on 100$ dinner tab you better be tipping at least 30$.

The difference is subtle, that's for sure.

Why would you do that? Invest in gold, that is. Even if you think the US dollar is about to collapse, and I have to assume you do, there are better investments.

no, you specifically said earlier you spent $150 on food and that some of it was "marinating" which means you were preparing it yourself.

Obviously you grossly exaggerated the cost last time to make people think better of you.

Invest in a commodity when at record highs? That's a good one.

I recommended buying gold on this forum when it was was somewhere in the 600~700ish iirc. I'll double check.

Many significantly better investments that aren't being marketed to suckers exist.

Not really. I'd be pretty ashamed if I couldn't tell the difference between cuts of meat, but then I like cooking, and so make an effort to be aware of stuff like that.

We spent $150 on dinner once. Just once.

It was at Fogo de Chao in Atlanta, a churrasco style buffet. Dinner is $50 a plate for all you can eat fire roasted steak, hand carved at your table from spits. Toss in a $30 bottle of wine and $20 for a tip, and yes indeed, we spent that much on one dinner.

On the upside, that restaurant has the best damn service at any place I have ever eaten, bar none. Rather than assign a table an individual waiter, the staff circulates freely replenishing food, water, drinks, and basically treating everyone who eats there like a king.

We've agreed to only eat there once every few years, for super special occasions. That was my birthday present the last time we ate there.

I don't get why spending $150 on dinner is a big deal. /shrug

I know, right? We should all focus on Varrus' investments instead.
