How are STD rates relevant at all to this discussion?

No fricken clue. Apparently, it's very very relevant for some people though...

Excellent point, it isn't relevant at all really. Which is why the only part of my post you responded to was the part pertaining to the discussion of STDs, right? Because it isn't relevant.

Um... I didn't respond to you at all. I responded to Pensive about his use of anecdote in preference to statistics. I was pretty clear that the statistics weren't likely relevant and gave a couple reasons why.

Then, out of the blue and for no apparent reason at all, you insisted that I must provide a citation for a minor point I made in one of my reasons why STD statistics weren't relevant. Which surprised me since I normally expect people on this board to only demand proof of positions in opposition to their own, but I figured either you were confused or maybe had matured sufficiently to realize that both sides of an issue should be held to equal levels of scrutiny.

I'm somewhat disappointed to find that you were, in fact, just confused...

Interestingly enough, the only part of your original post that pertained to STDs that I really cared about was a citation for the claim that run away gay teens and young gay men are more likely to engage in prostitution than any other group.

Wile I don't recall the exact wording I used, it should have been clear by context that I was saying that a small percentage of people engaging in high-risk behavior are responsible for the statistically high rate of STDs Varus was talking about. I then speculated that most of these people engaged in said behavior were not likely to be the same people who would be signing up for the military.

I suspect you're getting too caught up on the labels. I used the term "gay", but was referring to the group of people identified in the statistics Varus was quoting. Whatever you want to call the whole set of men who have sex with other men is up to you, but silly me, I tend to refer to them as "gay".

This one is definitely going on the list of "topics gbaji avoids at all costs." I think we're at seven now.

Not sure how you arrive at the conclusion that I avoid this topic in any way. My statements have been pretty consistent and pretty reasonable. They just weren't what you wanted to argue against...
