Right, just as policies such as banning gays has no place in the military either.

Re-read my previous post. I think you missed the "socio-political" part. There are no redeeming values by allowing gays in the military.
"More people in the military" isn't a redeeming value?

You're right, we should be kicking out people with valuable skills (like people who can translate, when we have a shortage) just because they are gay.

This is so naïve as to be completely ridiculous.

Holy fuck, you don't even understand the purpose of a military.

But, to be fair, this doctrine becomes less and less important as we seem to be switching our military business model to independent contractors, which aren't really bound by the same statutes as the general military force, including DA,DT. I'm still somewhat confused by people still wanting to go for standard service when contracting is available. Pays better, looser restrictions, better equipment and more legal 'protection'.

I don't see the issue here Varrus. Let homosexuals in the military and just put them on lead for every patrol. One of two things happens. They step on a land mine/get shot by a sniper/etc... ridding the world of one more ***** for you, or they do an excellent job and earn the trust of their comrades and it's a non-issue.

The US govn have sin taxes for tobacco and alcohol. So are you suggesting we start taxing homosexuals based on their sinful acts? I can go for that.

Sounds like that would be a sin tax error to me.

Doesn't give it any more reason to exist, other than being a good piece of political interference.

Which is likely the reason it still exists, which is still utter ********* But justifiable utter *********

We have drones and other mechanical devices to check for mines. And you seem to be under the false impression that I hate homosexuals. I don't hate the guy that steals bread to eat. That doesn't mean I condone his stealing the bread in the first place.
