I live in Iowa. 'Nuff said.

The corn pudding looks good, looks just like what I'm used to eating around here (a mixture of cornbread and corn). Not a big fan. Really, a cob of peaches and cream sweet corn slathered with butter is divinity. My grandma enjoys greatly pairing it with BLTs, so needless to say that was a staple dinner throughout the summer. She made sweetcorn for us last night, but it wasn't peaches and cream, and I'm not sure it was as fresh as usual. The taste difference is vast.

My grandma's favorite trick is to put some granulated sugar in the water while boiling sweet corn. Can't say I've eaten it recently without the sugar water trick, but I can assure you it's very delicious.

That is all.

The best corn I had in years, was at the Maryland State Fair and it had to be less then 24 hours since it was picked.

But it wasn't the best corn I ever eaten, that honor goes to the yellow corn grown by my great uncle that went into the pot just pick from the field in Indiana. Good yellow corn is hard to get in Maryland, since they seem to feel that Silver Queen is the only corn worth growing around here.

I been craving ice cream since, I was told by the doctor last Tuesday, that I can't have anything containing milk. Now with this talk of puddings, I have a hankering for tapioca. Smiley: cry

I refused to eat corn on the cob without butter and fresh ground pepper.

Fresh corn season is winding down.

Before it's gone everyone should have some Corn Pudding. Smiley: drool

Tastes like cornbread omelete..with corn.

Slather in butter and your fave pancake syrup (I favor real maple syrup...spend the extra money people!). Another good topping here is peach pie filling. Also: honey.

ETA:

Sugar and Gold Sweet

Dont even have to cook it. It's that good raw.

If it's anything like the corn casserole I'm used to, jalapenos are an excellent addition.

There's a restaurant near here that serves individual corn kernels in a light coating of breading. They're sweet and delicious. (A midwestern restaurant serving breaded everything? Go on.)
