I'm just saying shots fired in the air disperses people. It's assinine to say that because there's a gang fight going on they won't run for cover upon hearing the shots.

It certainly does at a track meet. Smiley: schooled

Does anyone know if something like this has happened in the last 10yrs in a city that wasn't run by Democrats?

Yes, it has.

Wow, that was easy!

Opening fire in the middle of a "gang fight" is a sure fire way to run up the dead body count.

It's a sure fire way to disperse the crowd if anything. Have you ever been at a football game where shots have been fired?

Of course not. In his Republican utopia there are no gangs!

Never mind the fact that urban centers tend to be more blue than the outlying areas...

You're completely missing the point. What do gang members sometimes carry? Firearms! Do you not see the extreme negligence in firing a gun near a heated gang fight?

Sooooo....where in the US doesn't have at least one single example of violent crime, as portrayed in this one single example?

This thread is only here to justify varrus's future WMD strike on Chicago.

We don't fire guns at games here. Might hit a beer.

That's right, the Olympics should not come to Chicago as someone died in a stupid fight.

I know varus's thread doesn't really require an answer, but meh! I don't really feel like working right now.

Jophed,

I didn't go to high school in TN. Regardless you people are avoiding the issue; safety for law abiding citizens in urban streets. I didn't see any of the attackers packing, did you?

Fortunately I live in Tn where we pass bills that prevent this sort of thing from happening;

Quote:
The state House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved bills tonight allowing Tennessee residents with handgun-carry permits to carry guns into any Tennessee State Park and to lift the ban on guns in local parks.

5 trained and armed law abiding citizens can keep criminals who get out of control in public in check. Criminals are going to carry weapons. The worst thing you can do is make it illegal for legal citizens to carry them.

The problem, as you know, in giving a whole buncha peeps guns is that accidental gun deaths will increase dramatically - and within our most vulnerable population (kids). We won't be any safer from Mr. Badguy - he/she will just get a bigger gun.

If there had been teens packing in this school yard war, do you think the death toll would have been less than, greater than or equal to one?

And who is the "law abiding citizen?", is it Joe Schmoe from down the road, who just got home from being fired, to discover his wife in bed with their next door neighbour?

Do your fatal shooting statistics not teach you anything? No they don't, because you'd have to admit guns are the problem, something red-neck, blinkered ******** like you will never do.

Yeehaw!

I thought the issue was whether or not Chicago was secure enough to host the Olympics.

The areas of Chicago I have visited were peaceful, clean, with relatively (for Chicago) friendly people, low traffic congestion, and well kept buildings and streets.

(They were also owned by the mafia, if local rumor is to be believed, and were far out from the city center.)

Actually, the downtown area is generally peaceful and clean. Da Mare doesn't cotton to ruffians potentially ruining his touristy areas by shankin' people. It's the more residental neighborhoods where you get into issues.

Why would you need to assume? There is a video.

Gang members are always black. Except the brown ones.
