So, I thought I'd kick it off.

I don't normally do the friday thread thing 'cos its just the usual surfing, gardening, hanging out with friends and family that people on weekends get up to....

But.

This Friday, something speshul is happening.

After what seems like 8 years of hard training, and 6 months in planning, I'm about to embark on a dream of mine.

I'm off for the 'trip of a lifetime'.

I'm flying to Singapore, and then on to Padung in Sumatra, where me and 6 mates are going to get on board this boat
Screenshot
We will live on it for 2 weeks, and sail all over the area hunting the best most deserted waves we can findat some reallly out of the way Islands, called the Mentawais, and get into some full on tropical, desert island reef surfing.

The water is 28degreesC, and it is the planets most consistent wave machine.

I am seriously farking excited!

Have fun while I'm away, and I'll be back to see you all when the skin grafts have proved succesful.

Wish me luck Smiley: cool

Cheers!

Friday we're having some friends over for drinking and eating and playing of games.

Saturday, we're lazing around and getting over our hangover then going on a Haunted Hayride at RipaVilla mansion that evening.

Sunday my husband will work while I do another chapter in my Paralegal course and do laundry and other various housework.

It has been raining around here for almost 2 weeks straight. We got a break yesterday and today though, so if it holds, my son's football game will be Saturday. My parents are supposed to come up for that since they've never seen one of his games yet. If it ends up raining, I guess I'll just dig out my fall/Halloween decorations, see what I have and maybe go shopping for more.

Its amazing how many people mention sharks when I say i'm a surfer. How many people mention 'major trauma' when someone mentions they drive a car, I wonder?

Yesterday (last day at work) we had a lady on the op. table for 4 hours while her arm and both ankles got ficksed after she fell over a backwards while mowing her lawns ffs!

How many people get told to watch out for fractures whilst gardening? Gardening is far more dangerous than surfing. Driving to the beach is more dangerous than surfing!

Sharks are a myth anyway.Smiley: glare

Surfing... something I've always thought about doing but never even got started. I envy people who surf :(

First of all I dont see any masts or yards on your "Boat" so you wont be sailing.
Second of all watch out for the sharks when you are the special at the all you can eat surf(er) and turf water buffet.

Other than that have a nice day mate!
And remember DADA means death!

Friday Saturday, Sunday I am working the ship. A real ship with mast and yards and rigging. 3 of them, squared rigged, though we dont sail.
Giving 2 tours tomorrow, and one each on Saturday and Sunday. Maybe play eq if it stops crashing on me, maybe watch a movie or hold hands with Elnes.
It is the Baltimore Book Festival this weekend as well, but I will be to tired to wander around the hills of Mt. Vernon for it.

Sooo jealous!!!! have a rockin good time!

Just bought bunk beds for Ashe and Xavier this evening. I spent today cleaning organzing and converting Xaviers room to be both of theirs and Soren will be soon moving into his own room. yay I get my bed back!!!

Tomorrow night Im heading to Frankies, an adult version of Chuck E Cheese on crack with some friends. Laser tag, mini golf, and go karts will be partaken of.

Sat Im headed to the coast to spend one last day with my brother before he is transferred to Hawaii and welcome my moms hubby (they are taking over my brothers house while hes gone and my mom will join her husband around Christmas when she officially retires)to the south.

Sunday will either be putting bunk beds together and screaming at my kids to stop jumping off the top bunk or a get together with a bunch of friends for our secular "Church" meet up Smiley: clown

This morning, it looks like it might finally rain. I've been praying for it. I <3 fall rain. I've got the day off, so I can go pick up my paycheck, and bum around Minneapolis in the skyways and watch the rain. oh please let it rain.

Tomorrow, my friend is paying my entry fee for a Zendikar pre-release draft tournament at the local nerdshop. Followed by booze, then Time Bandits in the park with a bunch of friends, if it doesn't rain. If it does, we'll hit the main drag and run around like drunken idiots between bars. Then we'll toast my unbrother at midnight, and I will magically become old.

Then, Saturday and Monday will be spent dealing with the harsh reality that I am old. Then I'll be fresh and bright come Tuesday morning to go back to work, and life will go on.

Local festival and hanging out with friends today and tomorrow including fireworks, local bands, face painting and boucy housing and all things Hannah will enjoy complete with pizza, candy apples, and staying up late. Sunday we may catch Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs if she's good, and I'm going to go get the stuff necessary to start working on her Halloween costume (she's insistent that she wants to be a skeleton this year...the traditional four year old girl costume of choice.

Going to the Common Ground?

Edit...lol nevermind. They don't have bouncy castles or pizza...or coffee.

I'm still deciding if I'm gonna go totally Granola at the CGF this weekend.

Ray and I are going on a day cruise to watch a cannon battle in the San Diego Bay on Saturday. It's also Free Museum Day across the country on Saturday so we'll go to one of the museums in Balboa Park.

My brother, a few cousins and my grandmother's birthday are all being celebrated this weekend as well so a few family parties to attend.

There's also the annual Pacific Islander Festival in San Diego so I have that family reunion to go to also.

I usually go, but Hannah and I drive *so* much on the weekends going back and forth to Mass all the time that I didn't feel up to it and with the annual festival where we live going on this weekend as well (and more than enough excitement for her), I'm opting for staying close to home.

If you go to the CGF, I'd go Saturday...Sunday's looking sketchy weather-wise.

There is the Book Festival in Mt Vernon, and Pirate Days at the Md Renn Fair, or just staying home and playing LOTR:O. I was suppose to go to Book Festival today to help at either the BSFS or BES tables, but body didn't feel up to it. Also got way too into playing LOTR:O after many months absence.

If there are any authors, I am interested in seeing, I may take bus to Mt Vernon. I'm not sure if I'm up to dressing up in garb for MDRF.
