Glee looks stupid.

It's not. It's really really not. It's actually very smart stuff. If it appears on the surface to be over-the-top and silly, that's because it's farce. If you were ever one of the geek-subclass in school, if you ever spent any time in a Bible-belt Midwestern town, there's a whole lot of truth and some truly brilliant irony underlying the hijinks.

Just as Ryan Murphy's other show, Nip/Tuck, was a farcical examination of the ugliness inherent in our cultural obsession with youth and beauty, Glee seems to be shaping up to be an examination of the quest for fame and popularity and the confusion between talent and notoriety.

Mark this as the only time I've agreed with Ambrya.

Hey, you watch SYTYCD too!

Quote:
Well written and hilarious. Sue saying "I will not rest until every inch of our fair state is covered in garbage. It’s why I pay taxes. It keeps garbage men earning a living…so they can afford tacos for their family."
I was almost in tears.

The quotable-quotes list from this show is quickly going to expand to epic proportions. And most of it is going to be lines that Sue speaks. Seriously.

BTW, if you were a fan of Nip/Tuck, last night's discussion between Terri and her sister where the sister asks, "Oh, my God...is the baby black?" was a reference to Jessalyn Gellig's character on Nip/Tuck, who delivered a black baby into the hands of the white man she supposedly conceived the baby with.

In honor of this thread, I'm linking a video that has nothing to do with Glee except having a song in common. The cute is strong with this one. Enjoy.

Pretty much the only things I've watched lately are Mad Men--I started from the beginning and am working my way through, and I saw an episode of Community, which I liked well enough.

Just watched the first three episode of Glee last night. It really is a good show so far, and I've enjoyed it a lot. I watched like the first 10 minutes of the 4th episode but was tired and had to hit the hay... but that part about the hot tub had me going "WTF!? That can't be real!" I actually googled it this morning just to verify that abstinence-only education is idiotic. And yes, looks like it still is. I'm guessing that either
A) The matter will be cleared up by the end of the episode
B) They're tossing the baby off to the woman who wants to be pregnant.

Anyway, the music is pretty good. When I heard "Don't Stop Believin'" in the first episode, I finally figured out where the background for Nick Pitera's cover came from. Well worth watching; it'll make the time until Chuck comes back go faster, at least!

AMC is rerunning all od Season 3 so far this Sunday. So, if you haven't finished 1 & 2 yet, you have 48 hours to plow through them and be up to date! Smiley: laugh

Anyone catch FlashFoward last night on ABC? I think it's going to my new Thursday night fix until Burn Notice and Royal Pains come back on USA.

Yeah, I saw Flashforward last night and really liked it. Glad there will be an encore tonight, my husband missed it last night. So now I've got that and Fringe to watch on Thursday.

Glee is like a bad car accident. Its gruesome to see but you can't turn away. At least this season its looking like the lead chick is gonna get laid.

I'm watching: House, Heroes, Hell's Kitchen, Fringe, Dollhouse, Robin Hood, Lie to Me (next week).

We've also been watching Crash but its slow as hell to make it to On Demand. :P

I recently discovered Dexter & have made it half way through Season 3 in about a week. It's weird, because it's not really a "guilty pleasure", but sometimes I feel guilty for enjoying it. Ya know, with the whole murdering thing going on.

Nothing wrong with a little murder now and then. Hmm, season four premieres tonight, it's too bad I watched the first episode almost a month ago though.

Heroes
Law and Order
Law and order SVU
NCIS
Fringe
Numbers
Greys anatomy
Flash Forward
Lie to me
House
V (when it comes on)
Hells Kitchen
So you think you can dance
The Mentalist
Castle

Think that's about it. Yes I watch way to much TV but since I don't play video games much anymore (the odd round of Guitar Hero) I kill brain cells watching TV.

Currently watching:

Heroes
The Office
Entourage
Dexter

Of course, The Daily Show and the Colbert Report are lolnews staples. Anything that Seth McFarland touches also makes it in to the viewing rotation, though I am not sold on the Cleveland show yet (I said the same thing about American Dad... and I watch it all the time now).

I will have to check out a few episodes of Glee as it seems to be getting a few thumbs up from Zammers.
