Feds charge Obama Clinton with campaign fraudFollow

#1 Sep 22 2009 at 12:28 PM Rating: Sub-Default
What a surprise...

Quote:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hassan Nemazee, a fund-raiser for Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other Democrats, has been indicted for defrauding Bank of America, HSBC and Citigroup Inc out of more than $290 million in loan proceeds, U.S. prosecutors said on Monday.

Oh no another sketchy source of funding for the Dems. Let's face it the Dems can't get elected nationally without these kind of supporters. Funny how Dems were all proud of how much money Obama raised during his campaign. Luckily for him liberals control the media so we can expect in depth coverage about who actually bought Obama the presidency.

Post title is a little misleading.

I feel silly even pretending to be surprised that you describe facts with deliberate dishonesty.

What is there to talk about? Nemanzee committed fraud, and he should be prosecuted for it. Does anyone here disagree with that? I know you're trying real hard to pretend this somehow reflects on Obama and Clinton, but since they had no knowledge they were receiving fraudulent contributions there isn't much you can peg on them.

So presidential candidates aren't required to account for where their money is coming from? That's news to me.

I'd be hard pressed to name something that isn't news to you, frankly.

I'm not too keen on charging people with crimes they didn't commit.

They should and they did. The campaign funds came from Nemazee. Why should they be held accountable for Nemazee's crimes?

Jophed,

So you don't think candidates should be responsible for knowing where their funds come from. No wonder the chi-coms were able to buy the Clintons.

They have to be able to say where it came from, obviously. They do not have to be able to say what those people did to get it, obviously.

This excludes fund raisers who have previously been convicted of a felony, obviously.

While you're considering this also consider why someone who receives stolen goods should be held accountable.

There is no reason to hold them accountable. They had no knowledge that the funds were acquired fraudulently, and they were not negligent in receiving them. I'm not a criminal if you place contraband on my person unknowlingly.

Obama and Clinton are, at worst, witnesses.

However, if you receive stolen goods either by accident or by purchase, these goods do not belong to you and are taken by the authorities after it is discovered that you have them. Should this apply to donated money as well? I'm not sure...

If it can be proven that that money was fraudulently obtained, sure.

I'm not seeing the part in the article where Obama or Clinton ordered the fraud, abetted the fraud, encouraged the fraud, or knew about the fraud.

Was it in invisible ink?
