No, I'm quite serious. Your ignorance is pretty startling. We were talking about the genesis of labor unions and your claim is that everyone should have just found new jobs. That's not even a claim worth investing significant time in since the only way you could be making it is if you're trolling or actually, clinically, mentally retarded. In neither case is it something to get into with you. I'd be more successful explaining history to my cat who, while further down the evolutionary ladder, has the benefit of not being plagued with mental retardation.

Why not? You're in insurance for the money, right? So you can rip people off and take their hard earned money. Why would doctor's be any less willing to admit the same, if it were the case?

When did you move?

When I first read the post, I wrote Europe instead of Canada, but then I realised that US doctors would probably think about moving to Canada before moving to Europe, since it's closer and has the same language, so I changed the order of the places they could move to, but forgot to change the "we".

I want you to take a look at all those companies that fed the unions their supply of employees by treating them like sh*t and forcing them to unionize and giving the unions more power by inciting the employees to demand more and ask if those unions would even be around today had the government stepped in back then and created sane labour laws. Big businesses and little governance is what gave you those unions.

But after reading this post, I'm ready to move to Canada Smiley: inlove

Obviously. We still have doctors in Europe despite having universal healthcare and lower doctor salaries than the US. Why, what the fuck do you think is going to happen? The US is going to run out of doctors?

No, Varus is in insurance because his particular skill-set makes it nigh impossible to secure employment sans nepotism.

Anyway, that survey is of California doctors, anyway, and not indicative of the doctors I've met and done business with outside their practices. Typically some of the most soulless and greedy people I've ever met, on par with lawyers, although I'll admit the bulk of my interaction with them has been in the professional capacity of selling liability insurance so's that in the event they fail to perform their job adequately their injured customer doesn't bankrupt them. It was probably just the subject which compelled doctors to refer to their patients as leaches and landmines, and not just a pervasive greediness inherent of doctors.

What's the unemployement rate in Union states?

Is that supposed to be an argument concerning the points Samira made regarding the birth of the union system in the 19th/20th century? Or maybe you're comparing Northern states to the Confederacy. I think your stupidity is keeping you from understanding the conversation.

Telling someone who is unemployeed and lives in a state where the unemployement rate is 20% to move to a city that's growing is the best advice you can give them. The simple fact is most of the people in that situation don't want to move. They think having a job at the factory is their right. Not only that but they unionize and get elected officials into power that take taxpayers money to prop up their companies which happen to be losing money.

I'm going to regret this.

Did it ever occur to you that these people, who weren't being paid enough to live on, couldn't afford to move and look for a job in another city?

It's easier to rail against current conditions that he perceives as "wrong" than it is to understand why things have happened as they have, and work to fix it so that in future they can be as equitable as possible while still leaning his way.

I have a theory about conservatives and progressives. It isn't the amount of raw intelligence that makes us different. It isn't necessarily our life experiences or our educations.

I'm starting to believe it all has to do with some basic personality traits, including (but not limited to) how comfortable we are with ambiguity, empathy and the importance we place on empathy, how we define "long-term", and how we see the individual's place in the larger framework of society.

So insurance agents rip people off hugh? This is why most liberals are f*cking idiots. I could explain why but what's the point.

Insurance agents most certainly do rip people off. We sell a phantom product, really just some easily manipulated concept of indemnity, and we do so with impunity due to an entrenched system which actually mandates our product be consumed. Ever worked in claims, you dumb fUck? Take the time to actually learn about the industry you're in, and you'll see what a piece of your **** your *************** of an old man is for starting the agency in the first place.

Decreased quality of care by doctors who aren't as qualified because there weren't as many people trying to become doctors so the competition wasn't as fierce. See how that works?

I'd imagine that weeding the doctors who excercise their profession purely for the love of money would lead to an increse in the quality of doctors.

Quote:
Imagine how many more doctors Europe would have if they were earning the same as US doctors.

They can, and do. Even the ones that work for the public healthcare, they just need to do some extra private work, and they can easily double their salaries. On average a doctor in the UK makes $165,100 a year, a starting salary

I mean, seriously, out of all the problems Europe has, salaries of doctors is probably number 34587839th.

Out of 34587839.
