Not only do they believe a book that has been pasted together from so many different texts, that over the centuries, they can't even let facts get in the way of their slander.

Social Evolution (Darwinism) wasn't even Darwin's theory, as it was in fact proposed by Herbert Spencer several years earlier.

Then they would actually have to read a book that wasn't the bible to know such facts.

I'll be fiar though and admit that I actually didn't learn about Herbert Spencer until I read Banquet at Delmonico's: Great Minds, the Gilded Age, and the Triumph of Evolution in America about his visit to America.

Of course there is all those European leaders of African origins. Oh wait, there isn't. None in Australia or NZ either. Maybe Aboriginal Prime Ministers? Leaders? No? Guess you guys aren't as progressive as you thought. It annoys me how rife with racism European, Australia and NZ is and how reluctant they tend to be to ******* admit it.

Yeah, parts of America are ****** up, racist and backwards but realistically, he couldn't get elected in your country because he's the wrong color, so I would step off that pedestal.

Female presidents: 0
Female prime ministers: 1

America: nation of whiners sexists? I think the evidence speaks for itself.

We have far, far less people of African descent here in the United Kingdom than you have in the United States. The US is what, 14% black people? It's 2% here, and less than 1% of the population is black African. Black people are more equally represented here. The former may be the cause for the latter, OK, but it sounds good. And isn't that what counts, in politics? Best testing indicates yes.

Hey, you know small men are strongly discriminated against? It's true - studies have been done. The shortest US president ever was five foot four, a whole inch taller than good old Kim. North Korea, less discriminatory than the United States? You heard it here first!

WTF!

We've had the first pot-smoking Rastafarian MP (who wore a hemp suit on his first day in paliament) and we have a transexual MP, a couple of female Prime Ministers, and heaps of Maori MP's, etc etc. So I'll climb right back up on my pedastal and shake my head in wonder whilst the US ties itself in a gigantic knot over having its first sortof, a bit black, President.

Thanks.

"Sort of"? "A bit black"? Nice, paulsol.

You are talking about representatives. In the US we've had Asian, black, gay, female representatives. That's quite a different thing isn't it. It's about regional acceptance and not about a nation promoting someone as their leader. I don't think it means the US is over racism and I don't act self-righteous about it. YOU say that Obama would rather be a leader in Europe. WHERE? France? England? Germany? Like THEY'D have a guy with an Kenyan father for their Prime Minister? What about Australia or New Zealand. No, he'd be an MP.

Stop acting like you have this pedestal that you can stereotype a country of 300 million with impunity. Your country's history of discrimination is too sketchy for that to happen.

Seriously, though, where does your ironclad certainty that we wouldn't come from? We're not just talking ship-of-the-line certainty here - I'm pretty sure we're juggling dreadnoughts here. So what gives? Have you peered into the dark heart of Europe and seen exactly how racist we are, and then used a supercomputer to noodle out that we'd never elect a black African? As Einstein once said, "that seems rather unlikely".

If the USA wants credit for electing a black President they need to do 2 things:

1. Elect a black President. Obama is a half caste and as much white as black.

2. Have the black presidential candidate actually earn his win. Obama stood against the most reviled, hated and loathed administration in the history of the US.

The man is called 'Obama', which sounds like 'Osama' to the rednecks, many of them think he's a Muslim, many Americans view him as a socialist or a communist, he's made anti war statements, and yet he STILL won by a landslide.

If he'd worn a beret and a string of onions, made his pre election speeches in French and blown his nose on a US flag on prime time TV, he STILL would have won by a landslide.

Get back to us about having a black President when you've actually got one worth talking about.

Yeah, no. No one ever says he's half black, for example.

At any rate, this is a silly argument.

'the fuck?

Shit, even if you're going to get all panty-twisted about general election, he won the primary season against a candidate who was heavily favored up until the start of the season (and considered an even shot for the first part of that).

Oh well. At least I can feel good knowing that it's not just us 'Mericans who are dreadfully ignorant of the world around us.
