I agree with this but trying to compare the two is asinine anyway.
In Bush's case, the complaint was made after the speech and centered primarily around its cost. At worst, some accused Bush of using the kids as props for a campaign speech but no one was saying the kids were hurt by it.
In Obama's case, it was a shrill cry made a week or more before the speech and centered around accusations that Obama was actively hurting our nation's children by trying to brainwash them into servitude. Think about that: they were saying the President of the United States was planning to intentionally hurt our schoolchildren in advance some evil liberal agenda.
Both speeches were fine but the accusations made in each case don't compare.

I was listening to Limbaugh today as I drove to get lunch, and he informed me that not only was Obama's speech about personal responsibility bad because it wasn't something Obama believed in, but that his *original* speech *wink, wink* was a "deal leader" set of instructions indoctrinating children that was only changed at the last minute when the nation was rescued by the brave voice of dissent from the masses.

Apparently the speech made quite a good impact on my son. He rarely comes home and volunteers information about his day. But today he made a point to tell me that "Barack told me I should stay in school and graduate". That's about all he remembers (he's 7), but the fact that he remembered it at all is amazing. He usually forgets things 30 seconds after they happen. (Dad leaves for work, makes a point of telling Noah he's leaving, 20 second later 'Mom, where's Dad?')
