White House Asks Us to Turn in "Fishy" People for a New Enemy List .
Enemy List is Being Compiled -Called a "Fishy" List
Linda Douglass, the communication director of the White House's Health Reform Office has posted a video on the White House Blog : http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/ , She explains with visuals about the amount of wrong information out there regarding the
president's new health care reform. She points one out that says it will put private insurance out of business and goes on to say it is not true.
Then she asks if we, as the American people, will report these "fishy "posting" to the White House. This is a bit scary. Is the White House composing a list of people who are disagreeing with this reform? This woman is asking for the American people to judge what they are reading and if it looks "fishy" report it. What is "fishy"? You would think that if they are to go so far as to ask people to report on each other they would give you some guidelines under the code word , "fishy". Please supply us with the "Fishy" Guidelines or at least an eta when they will be arriving. I am not sure if what I heard this morning at the coffee shop would fall under the guidelines. Even if it did, I know nothing!
Compiling an Enemy list against health care reform made out of our neighbors is not something that is traditional for this great nation of ours.
I have an elderly neighbor who is afraid her insurance coverage will be in jeopardy. She is 92 and is having a tough time understanding all of this. Some of her quotes seem a bit "fishy". Is she "fishy"? I do not care if she is, her secret is safe with me. She has lived this long being able to ask these kinds of questions, I will not rain on her parade and tell her there are lists for people like her now. I hope she does not mention her confusion to a real good American. Can you imagine her stress level when she finds out she is on a list at the White House because she said something "fishy". Fishy to her is what something smells like when it has been in her refrigerator too long. She would be crushed to fall under that catagory.

Now, let's sift out the fact from the fiction here. The EXACT thing that is said is: "There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov." (from http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/)
To me, this says "We want to know what the e-mail says, or what the website says" NOT "we want to know who sent it." I mean, nowhere does it ask for the people who send it. They ask that if you see or hear a "fishy" rumor, tell the whitehouse blog about it. In my mind, the reason for that is to respond, you know?
Anyway, just wanted to bring it up and see if anyone else has seen yammering about this. I figure within a few days it would hit the bigger guns and then Varrus would post on it, and it would still be inane and foolish. Am I missing something?
Edit: I really suck at this whole avatar thing :-(
