...and then there's this clip from Ukraine's Got Talent. Wow.

Edit: from the YouTube comments:

Quote:
Here's a post regarding the clip on the youtube site from somebody who is likely Ukrainian: It is about World War 2. First audio is news cast about the **** invasion". Final sand writing with mother & child, & ghostly image of the sailor, is "Your are always near by." ("you are always in my heart")

The Slavic people lost well over 30 million soldiers and common folk in WW2 , so even today the emotions are still strong for not only the old survivors, but also the younger generations.

Quite possibly the best performance I've ever seen. I don't think I've ever seen sand animation before, actually.

Thank you very much for sharing that. It moved me to tears . . . and my Ukrainian ancestors left Odessa long before WWII.

This just goes the show the gulf between the "talent" offered by America's Got Talent, and true, heart-rending artistic talent. An incredible piece, extremely moving.

That was completely amazing, though I'd be lying if I pretended the segue into Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" at the end didn't break the trance for a moment...

Simply amazing! To make you forget that this is a show, a competition and draw you into another time and place is what I would call fine art. Thanks for sharing!

Nailed what I was thinking, these faces and locations are probably stories and references that we aren't "getting" because they are part of the Ukrainian culture.

Lemme guess....

You have no knowledge whatsoever about the world in general and couldnt find the Ukraine on map if your life depended on it, hence the idiotic observation?

Amirite?

WTF do you mean 'we'?

Tell me that you've at least heard of WWII?

Well...

#1. Sad attempt at humor..Smiley: frown
#2. Yes, at least heard, not an expert, but unless you were rather knowledgeable about Ukraine I don't think you'd be able to correctly say what each reference was.

I was so entranced by the art that I didn't notice the music. Had to go back and rewatch to catch it.

Did you at least notice that it was a woman, who was fairly attractive?
