I just read "breaking news" on MSNBC that Hughes died. Can it be true?

Now we'll never see Pretty in Pink 2, featuring bitter, stretch-marked Andie and alcoholic misogynist Blane. :(

St. Elmo's Fire II!

I read an article once "blaming" John Hughes for the demise of the late 70's-early 80's teen sex romp. Hughes took us away from Porky's and Revenge of the Nerds and instead gave us the Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink.

Yeah, but American Pie resurrected it. So I guess it's true that it's cyclical.

People who produced things that I enjoyed as a child need to stop dying atleast for this year.

If pee wee herman and Kenny Loggins die before it's 2010 I'm gonna go hide under a rock because it's end game at that point people.

Not forgiving him for any of the damn Beethoven movies, either.

Beethoven was inexcusable, I'll give you that.

Grew up with so many of his films, St Elmo's Fire was like a religion.

Religion as in beating off to Demi Moore, esp in About Last Night!

Huh... apparently (as I look on IMDB), St. Elmo's fire wasn't a Hughes flick. Which means there IS chance for St. Elmo's Fire II!

However, I'll pour a beer on the curb for Some Kind of Wonderful, the Hughes teen flick no one ever remembers.

I remember it, just didn't like it. I stand by Weird Science. Oh, and Breakfast Club (not the one on CoH).
