This girl apparently thought it was a good idea.

Trina Thompson, 27, of the Bronx, graduated from New York's Monroe College in April with a bachelor of business administration degree in information technology.

On July 24, she filed suit against the college in Bronx Supreme Court, alleging that Monroe's "Office of Career Advancement did not help me with a full-time job placement. I am also suing them because of the stress I have been going through."

As Thompson sees it, any reasonable employer would pounce on an applicant with her academic credentials, which include a 2.7 grade-point average and a solid attendance record. But Monroe's career-services department has put forth insufficient effort to help her secure employment, she claims.

My favorite part is her stellar 2.7 average. yay B-

That and the fact that she's had her degree for three whole months.

And knowing the American justice system she'll win her lawsuit and never have to work a day in her life. American courts have allowed this garbage to happen and cost taxpayers billions of dollars. I'm not American but this supidity anoys me as I'm sure it does most people. Everyone remember the hot coffee incident? Or how about the woman who put her motorhome on cruise control and went into the back to make something to eat. Low and behold it crashed and she made millions sueing the company because the manual doesn't say not to leave the seat while on cruise control. The person who should be sued the the person who gave her the liscence to drive. The justice system has made it to easy to blame other people for your stupidity. No one takes responsibility for their own actions anymore.

haha, I wouldn't be advertising a 2.7 gpa...you can't even get into grad school with that, no wonder she's screwed.

Where I came from,

2.0 = C
2.33 = C+
2.66 = B-
3.0 = B

So, yeah, B- average according to state colleges. Which, outside of a science major, is pretty unimpressive. I had a similar major with a different concentration and stayed above 3.7 every year. This girl is an idiot, the lawsuit will be thrown out.

It's funny to me now how people can still think this. Do some research and find out more. I'll be honest; I thought it was a frivolous lawsuit too until I actually learned about the details of the case. And fun fact; the dollar amount was later drastically cut from $2.86 million to about $640,000, AND it was settled out of court (likely for the cost of skin grafts and a small hush money pile, since Liebeck couldn't afford an appeals process and the follow-up treatments).

It was more a case of cost-cutting and product liability (McDonalds served their coffee at 180-190 degrees, which would almost instantly cause third burns, because they get a tiny bit more out of the coffee beans at that temperate... although their stated reason was "Well, people usually drive with it before drinking and we want it to stay warm"... which their own research proved was a blatant lie) than of frivolity. The woman herself only wanted $20,000 to cover her bills.

Interesting to note that similar cases in the UK failed.

From what I've seen, biochem, physics, and chemistry majors have insane tests and lower-than-average scores; I remember my roommate (who was physics) would come home saying he got a B, but only got 40% of his test correct... and that was above average in his class. Then again our valedictorian was a double major Biochem/Physics major, so smart folks get good grades no matter what major.

I remember this being the case when I was in college. Iir it was in organic chem and advanced physics classes.
