Apologies if this has been posted already. I suppose you can't go wrong with Sam Raimi, right?

I'd like to see a Zelda movie.

We did get to see a new 'image' from the next Zelda game - being produced by Miyamoto (I'm gonna have to break down and get a wii).

I'm surprised we haven't seen one already. Perhaps Nintendo has been tightfisted on the IP rights--wanting to protect brand image. If it was made, it would sell. Action elements and epic scenes come naturally to the series.

Spiderman 3...

In his defense, the studio forced him to combine his ideas for 3 and 4 into one movie. If only Venom or only Sandman appeared in 3 and more time went into developing that story arc, instead of going into omg action villains!, then we'd have better memories of Spiderman 3.

But yeah, 3 sucked, and I'm pretty sure Raimi knows it Smiley: frown

I never knew that, which helps explain it a bit.

Imagine if Peter Jackson only made one Lord of the Rings...

As someone who's been playing WOW since release, I can honestly say I would've perfectly happy had they never made a film about it. I'm not a big fan of turning video games/books into movies in general, but even more so in the case of an MMO. It just doesn't seem compatible with the concept of an MMO.

That, and there is already a movie in the warcraft universe, and it's called LOTR.

I might watch it when it comes out on cable TV, but on the whole, I think it's a bit of a ****-take.

I believe the intent is to make a general warcraft movie, not so much a film adaptation of WoW. Isn't this movie supposed to take place before the MMO chronologically?

The question is, how are they going to fit in the car?

I don't know. I decided to go for the knee-jerk-outrage cake, sprinkled with a dash of superiority, and an icing of artistical puritanism.

I didn't look into the details of the movie, nor the plot, nor any of the justifications for producing such a thing, nor into any background information which could turn my prejudiced opinion into informed one. I can't help it, it's the mmo-gamer in me.

It's supposed to take place in the WoW universe ten years before the beginning of the events we saw happening in vanilla WoW.

I dunno, it could be okay. /shrug

It could be ok for a movie based on a videogame, yeah. That's not saying much, though.

I like sam raimi though, evil dead was quite awesome.

I'd much prefer it be an interaction of real people (or as close as gamers get, AMIRITE?) and their characters in game, along the lines of Being John Malkovich.

Now THAT would be cool.

Or it could be along the lines of that film with Will Ferell where he's the caracter in a book being written by a lady author... I forget the name. But anyway, like that, except that it's with Orcs instead of Will Farell, and 14 year old gamers instead of the author. So the Orcs would be all like "Zomg dude, why do I speak with a 14 year old boy's voice saying lots of lame **** to these NOOBS!!" and then they'd wonder why they have to stand still for 15 minutes while the 14 year old is alt-tabbing to have a ****.

Working title: "Existentialism is an Orcism".

Sam Raimi is a much better director than a Warcraft movie deserves. If anything, he'll elevate this ****.

I love The Guild, but I'm thinking more in-game interactions as well.

This would work really well with City of Heroes, actually, where the avatars are clearly extensions or alter egos. Imagine mild-mannered Joph coming home and setting aside real life to be the Polish Princess, terror of evil her friends!

I only played WoW for two weeks before deciding I didn't like it and went back to my Smiley: moogle @#%^ery. However, I'm still a fan of the Warcraft series and am looking forward to the next non-MMO installment.

Anyway, imaginary bad *** cast:

Thrall - I dunno... I think the guy who's playing the new James Bond would be a good choice, but for some reason I can't think of anyone that would be tailored for this role.
Grom Hellscream - Vin Diesel
Arthas - Dominic West
Cairne - Clint Eastwood. Most people would say Sean Conery, but honestly, I think Eastwood would make a better Cairne.
Illidan - Billy Crudup
Medivh - Gary Oldman
Kel'thuzad - Jeremy Irons
Jaina - Scarlett Johannsen. Face it, the movie studio is going to cast someone in this role for no other reason than to make guys follow the bouncing bosom. I'd rather have her than the talentless hack that played Silk Spectre in Watchmen. I personally think Leana Heady would be a good choice.

random extras:

Ogre - the guy who play Bulk in the original Power Rangers
Goblin(s) - Ted Nugent, Joe Pantaliano, Joe Pesci
Gnome(s) - Conan O'Brien, Steve Buscemi
Troll(s) - Varrus, Larry King
