'Busa schopenhauer' might be more accurate.

I just read an article that says arthritic patients have to wait over 9 months to get care.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1199714/A-9-month-wait-arthritis-treatment-Delay-mean-lifetime-agony-victims.html

Yeah this is what we want for our elderly here in the states.

We already have universal health care for the elderly.

On the other hand, if my partner was terminal, I'd be hard pressed to find life so precious or magical that I'd be capable of mustering enough excitement to continue living.

I have always wondered what my reaction would be if I were faced with this, especially now with kids. It's different the moment you add in other people who need you.If my husband was terminal I dont know how I would live without him emotionally, yet at the same time I would have to be strong for the boys and carry on. But I dont know how. It's one of those things that I dont know how I will react unless it happens and I hope Im never ever faced with that. I could see myself ending up in a mental ward for a little while if anything happened to my family.

Someone I know had this just happen to her. Her husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Both in their 30's. They have 2 young boys. He just passed away 2 weeks ago after fighting hard. Shes up in Mass with family now, but I can not fathom how she is holding up for her boys while knowing the love of her life is gone and she has to raise their kids alone now.

I wouldn't normally do it, but I especially wouldn't do it if I had kids.

I'm with zepoodle. My uncle died at 29, leaving my aunt with three children, including one infant. My great uncle died on Christmas day leaving six kids from the age of 15 to one. Recently my aunt and my cousin (who was the oldest daughter of the latter family) were talking about how hard it was to go on, how many mistakes that you can make but you have to persevere, even in the bad times. But it's tough. Unimaginably so. But both women made a life for themselves and their children that has been worthwhile.

Unless I was terminally ill or somehow in the condition that the first person was (medical distress), the answer would decidedly be no.

Oh I wouldnt either. I didnt mean to imply I'd off myself. It's just I wonder how I would go on. I'd be pretty messed up but again, when you have kids, you dont have a choice in the matter. You dont live for yourself anymore and no matter what you have to find a way to get through.

I cant even begin to imagine though, what it would be like to lose a child. That's just a place I care not to go and think on. To me it's beyond unimaginable.

MrKatie and I have discussed this and we've decided that when we get to an age where we can no longer take care of ourselves and our life isn't really life we are going to do this. We've also discussed that if one of us were on life support with no chance of recovery that we'd just want the machine to be turned off.

Yes, without a second thought. I don't want to be without MrKatie. If I could be sure that we would die side bye side and never have to wake up to be without the other, then yes.

You have much to learn about love, young padawan.

Amen. There isn't much I wouldn't do for my husband. I'm fiercely protective of him. Our worlds revolve around each other. We are both anti-social, we like having friends to do things with but we'd usually rather just stay home with each other. We hardly leave each others side.

Most people I know think it's weird that we don't want time apart. It's just we want to share everything with the other. I never quite believed in that soul mate thing but when I met him it was like magnetism.

He knows my darkest secrets and I know his. I'd die for him in a heart beat and I've seen him almost break a guys arm because the guy (kiosk annoying salesman) tried put this massage thing on my head while I was walking by. I loathe being touched by strangers. It flips me out.

One of Ray's favorite movies is Robin Williams' Millennium Man. The ending always brings a tear to his eye and he said if he has to go, that's the way he wants to, us lying in bed, holding hands. I agree with him.

And I'm sure the salesman just loves getting his arm nearly broken by strangers.

Fucking hypocrite.

I bet a bone splinter would have entered the salesman's heart and killed him. Then Mrs. Salesman would have had to commit suicide, leaving Salesman Jr to be a ward of the state.

God, Katie's husband is an asshole.

I always found him to be a bit of a ****, but the most common comment about Ted was his inseparability from Joan. Only took part in a few rehearsals, but she was never further than 10 feet from him. She was quite a sweety.

Sad for both of 'em. Can't say I'd want to commit Suttee meself, but I have no issues with them taking that route.

The great pity is that they lived in a country that lacks the ******** to have a decent debate on assisted dying, and had to go to the land of Chocolate cuckoo clocks to off themselves..
