I would imagine them all to be Varus. This would give me provide me the initative to battle them all in hand-to-hand combat (POW!).

That's one of the reasons I'm divided (rather than opposed) on conceal carry permits.

It's not easy to shove a shotgun in your pants and transport the thing everywhere, even sawed off I mean come on, how are you gonna sit through a business meeting comfortably?

Small holdout pistol concealed is nice for a responsible person... just well, the responsible thing is the rub.

You aren't going to hit anything with a hand cannon unless you're well practiced and calm. Unless you're using a slug, the shotgun is going to be much more practical for an average dude/lady who is protecting a home, who practices with the thing maybe twice a year...

Weapons can make a bad situation a hell of alot worse, more times then they make it better. If one side of a conflict can legally have guns, then so will the other side

However, I do feel that a confrontation in the article should be classified as a racial hate crime.

Racial hate is not just whites being racists towards blacks, it works both ways imo.

Also, Varrus doesn't seem all that familiar with gangs. I wouldn't go toe to toe with a person in a gang who often has a whole lot less to lose than I do and more social expectations around violence. And more experience shooting people.


On a sidenote, I've studied about certain parts of the country with really severe issues. It's not as bad in Boston as it is in LA or Chicago. I've always heard that there are places in Chicago that are rough and incredibly violent--though I wonder if anything has changed regarding gangs since the Cabrini Green and the other older projects were torn down--whether any intervention has been helpful.

Spread them around the city and outlying areas, mostly. The South Side is still the bad side but you have block-by-block changes throughout the city.

There's still public housing (and more being built) although the "large building" model has shifted to smaller units, often with a patch of grass and a tree. Those are photos of Altgeld Gardens which is under major rennovation. I assume the idea is to (A) reduce the concentration of people and (B) give people some sort of "ownership" on their patch of real estate rather than feel like you have no investment in the giant concrete building you're in.

This is what's now standing where Cabrini Green once stood. I suppse the definition of "excitment of the city at your doorstep" has slightly changed as well.
