Probably not. A savy businessperson should be able to create wealth for their company with carbon credit trading.

It's amazing you can read and write yet there's still nothing going on upstairs.

A savy businessperson will take their business elsewhere. Which is why this bill targets the coal and oil industry.

The scientific community does not accept "climate change". In fact the world has been cooling the last 10yrs. The general consensus is they don't know what the f*ck is going to happen 10yrs from now or if anything we do can have any effect.
I suspect there is some sort of an alternate universe thing going on here - clearly you are elsewhere.

What scientific community, where? I suppose that's the same scientific community that doesn't agree with the theory of natural selection, right?

Though a supporter of Obama in general, I don't really believe any money should be going to any cause relating to climate change. I don't think humans have any significant impact on what the climate is like. Climate change is just what the world does.(yeah I know, it's said a lot.)

Money going to improve energy efficiency and decreasing dependence on resources out of our control is something I can get behind though.

Here's some links from a site that discusses climate change and the effects of greenhouse gases. Who wrote this I have no idea but (s)he does site their sources at the end.

http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/ice_ages.html
http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/greenhouse_data.html

It's a long read, but interesting whether you are a believer in man made climate change or not.

When you're done, you should read through this:

I think conservatives don't WANT to believe in climate change because it affects how much stuff they can own. Which is really their primary concern in any issue.

Why don't you want gays to be able to marry? Why don't you want public health care? Why don't you want...pretty much anything good for society as a whole that the Republicans oppose?

Because you want to own more stuff.

From your own sources. You definitly have to have an imagination to believe humans can affect global climate change.

Erm.. and?

I'm sorry... did you think "ever refining art" is synonymous with "We have absolutely no idea" or something?

Who says I don't want any of that stuff? I just don't want to have to pay for yours and every other dead beat who spends their money on beer, cigs, and fast food as opposed to taking care of themselves. Do you see the difference?
I fail to see the relevance of this to:
  • gay marriage;
  • improved fuel efficiency;
  • and anything else that improves society, has nothing to do with health insurance, and is opposed by Republicans.

Drill here drill now is the best/quickest way to increase our fuel efficiency. Attempting to legislate the creation of new unproven methods certainly isn't.
I don't believe you understand the meaning of the phrase "improved fuel efficiency".

For that matter, I don't believe you understand the meaning of many other phrases.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems to me it would be more efficient to utilize our own natural resources instead of forcing companies to re-invent the wheel to placate politicians. But that's just me.
I would think you'd be in favor of making it so that those natural resources last longer first; otherwise you're just postponing the problem.

I'm not categorically against drilling (or gas-powered vehicles, for that matter). I'm against a mentality of "why bother pushing the MPG rating for vehicles up, we can just drill for more oil".
#72REDACTED, Posted: Jul 08 2009 at 12:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You're assuming there's a finite amount of said resources. I don't buy that.

Oh right, I almost forgot that Varrus thinks the earth can produce as much fossilized bio-material as we consume.

Why do we attempt to debate with him again?
