Then you must loathe Obama. He did promise no new taxes on the poor while raising the cigarette and alcohol tax as well as promising to institute a new national sales tax alongside the current federal income tax.

Glad to hear the GOP can count on your vote next time around.

Hey, glad to see you're still saying the same stupid ******** over and over.

Palin better not run for president. Ever. If she did, I would hope the Republican Party would choose another person as their presidential nominee.

Every time you mention your two Obamas, I'm going to remind you he's President and she's the soon-to-be-ex-governor-of-Alaska.

Scared? Nah I'm sure I can afford double my utilities bill next year if this cap and trade bill is passed. And I'll just have to hold off on buying that new boat if he institutes a national sales tax alongside the federal income tax.

Wait, aren't you in favor of replacing the federal income tax with a national sales tax?

Wouldn't a gradual switch between the two be the easiest way to get people used to it, rather than "HA HA WE CHANGED THE TAX SYSTEM COMPLETELY, ENJOY YOUR AUDIT"?

Well, I'm employed and the company I work for is bidding on projects being funded with stimulus dollars so.... pretty good, really.

What a coincidence that's Obama's defense to his idiotic policies as well.

Obama,

"I won get over it".

Man I wish W could have thought of that one.

He was too busy being the 'decider'*.

And what is it with Pubbies actually finding merit in the intellectually incurious? It does seem to be a pattern of theirs. Reagan, Bush II, Palin etc.

Whatever anyone's criticisms about Obama, intellectually incurious would be a long way down anyones list.

*Which was just one of dozens of priceless utterances from the idiot in chief, probably the one that caused me the most est mirth tho' was 'Is our children learning'.

But I was hoping to spend about 30k on a new boat next year. But with all this cap and trade talk along with a national sales tax alongside the current federal ones I may just put the 10k down payment on gold coins.

gold December 31, 1969 $36.02/ounce
gold today $409.72/ounce
percentage increase 1,037%

Dow Jones Industrial Average Dec 31, 1969 192.91
DJIA today 8,324.87
percentage increase 4,215%

You will invest in gold? You are a genius, no doubt about it.

Well the gold should hold its value better than a boat...

Invest high, sell... ??? Any time before '05-'06 would have been a great time to invest. Hit just over $250 an ounce back around 1999-2001. Up to $924 now.

Go for it man.

This may be a very stupid question, but what exactly is the difference between a national sales tax and a federal sales tax?

I think he's confused. There is no federal sales tax. There is a state sales tax, and a federal income tax. I think he was trying to say a national sales tax along side the current federal income tax. Where are previously groups had suggested a national sales tax instead of an income tax, and eliminating the IRS.
