I'm sorry you Democrats just elected Al Franken to the senate. Palin has nothing on him.
Well, that's true.

The media and Democrats are terrified of Palin.
Folks on the right keep saying that but I think we both know it's whistling past the graveyard. Remember how "terrified" the Left was of her during the 2008 election? She's exceptionally good at firing up her base, I'll give her that. Unfortunately for the Right, that comes at a price of alienating the middle. McCain's polling with moderate/independents went
down with Palin on the ticket, including with female voters. Elections are won in the middle and she has zero credibility there.
I could see her as a great money-raiser and standard bearer for your side. As a national candidate? Not so much.

The Democrats in Alaska have gone after her for 15 different, fabricated, ethics violations. Over 2 million tax payer dollars spent and not one charge has stuck.
The Anchorage Daily News ran a story the day before her speech pinning the ethics suit taxpayer price tag at $296,000. Two thirds of that was for Troopergate in which she
was found to have violated the state ethics rules and the next biggest pricetag went to her putting her kids onto the state's tab when flying them around. Palin settled that one when she reimbursed the state for ~$3,000.

There are two possibilities for why Palin resigned. Someone has something on her or she's going to change residences and run for the senate next year preparing her for a presidential bid in 2008. By then the market should be around 5k and the jobless rate will be over 12% nationally.
I sincerely doubt that she'll run for the Senate and be happy as one voice out of 100 as a junior senator in the minority party. She obviously chaffed as second banana to McCain and that was for the #2 spot in the nation. No, if she goes for anything she's going to make a direct play for the Oval Office and, I'd expect, fail miserably.
