How's your 4th of July weekend look?

Ours will be long, beer-laden and most excellent. Tonight we are off to dinner/movie to celebrate our 5th anniversary. Tomorrow we are hanging out and relaxing with the kidlets, swimming and having fun. Saturday we have a BBQ and fireworks with friends and Sunday we'll be nursing our hangovers. Monday, Mr. Tare has the day off again so we are off to the zoo! Wee!

This will be my first relatively stress free weekend in quite some time, I'm very excited. I sold my house on Tuesday, so that's out of the way as is the moving, packing, cleaning, etc. Hannah and I are heading down to Smash-house this afternoon, fireworks tomorrow night, 4th festivities on Saturday (not sure what, it will depend on weather...might go to the parade or something). If it's rainy, maybe a trip to the build a bear workshop. And there will be wine...oh yes, there will be wine.

My first vacation! I'm going up to MA for the next week, hanging out on Cape Cod. Spending Friday in Boston visiting friends, then Saturday with relatives in the morning and fireworks (or, if there's rain, a huge freaking party) on the 4th. The rest of the week is EMPTY. Hopefully will meet up with some old friends; otherwise just chill and relax! Coming back the next Sunday.

Wow, grats on the anniversary Tare, and on selling your house, Nexa. Good times, good times.

Making plans on the 4th here is just hilarious - everyone wants to do an outdoor barbecue because there's been hot weather recently. Inevitably on the day it's foggy and cold and some poor shmoe is standing out in the back yard by himself, wearing a parka and sadly turning ribs on the grill.

But hey, I never learn from experience so I'll probably participate in torturing another Sunset husband.

I'm working all weekend, but we're going to try and see the city fireworks after I get off. But then Monday, we're heading up to the mountains to play in the river and roam around the trails. Should be nice there, everyone else will have gone home already, so the crowds will be minimal.

I am working Friday thru Sunday on the ship. Not working the 4th picnic and fireworks viewing. Tickets still available for the great view. http://constellation.org Food, drinks, gunfire, oh wait I should say cannon firing even if Navy ships don't have cannon, and I wont be there!

Happy Anniversary.

We're bbqing tomorrow for son, gf, and a couple more of his buds - if it doesn't rain. I told um all if it is, I'm not cooking.

We've had rain 22 of the last 30 days. It's Thunder-storming right now, and power is out at my office (my laptop is fully charged however). I'm going to persevere here til my battery goes out.

Typically I pick strawberries on 4th of July weekend, and I am still planning to. But I'm not sure how the picking will be. The strawberry yield thus far has been scant and overly ripe.

The World-dominating slugs have now completely eaten my dill - they didn't even leave a stem. They're almost done will the basil. Apparently rosemary, parsley and sage are not to their liking.

I actually have a 4 day weekend because of the World Economic Crisis (WEC). We have a mandatory day-off without pay next Monday.

I got my period so sex isn't even looking like a possibility. All-in-all, I'm kind of blehed-out about the whole weekend.

My husband, who never goes to movies with me, has mentioned wanting to see Iceage 3, so maybe that will be my excitement to look forward to. Whoopee.

Edit - dang, power just came back on at work.

We'll be cleaning the house and packing for our vacation this weekend. Our neighbors usually hold some sort of fireworks display in the cul-de-sac outside our house, so we'll likely be taking Tristan to see those, then on Monday we leave for a week at Black Butte Ranch with some friends who have a time-share there.

Tomorrow we're gonna go do some stuff for my grandma (who is trying to sell her house). BT's going to paint her bathroom, and I'm gonna pasta salad and baked beans to take to my aunt's 4th of July BBQ. Probably in the evening we'll go watch fireworks downtown with my dad at his work, and on the Saturday they should be setting off fireworks right across the street from where we live. So, family, food, fireworks, the three Fs of the fourth.

I'm going to a family reunion in New Brunswick with my American-hating family, who will tell us we live on the wrong side of the line. Ha, ha, not much patriotism on my July 4th. I'm excited to see everyone. My aunt has wanted me to go up for so long and my cousin Chris, who we all haven't seen for a while (save a time I saw her in Toronto) will be coming out as a surprise for my grandma (it's her niece).

Have fun on the Cape, LockeCole.

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck

Dude, bring some good weather with you when you come up. It's been depressing as hell around here for the past month.

My fiance's parents flew into town yesterday, and we're bringing them up to NH to spend the 4th with my parents. They'll get to meet the rest of my extended family while they're there, and my fiance and I will be hiding out the whole time trying to avoid the endless barrage of wedding planning-related questions from everyone.

We're putting our first offer down on a condo today, so we'll see how that goes. We're lowballing the hell out of it, since home prices are still too goddamn high in this state. If they don't accept it, no big deal; there's tons of other stuff on the market that hasn't been moving.

Besides that, gonna be getting ready for a camping trip next weekend that includes a 10 mile, 2-summit hike through the White Mountains. The rain better have stopped by then...

The wife and I have a wedding to attend on Saturday the 4th. They're marrying at a local casino resort (Foxwoods Resort in CT), so there's a 105% chance I will not be sober and will have spent a large portion of our "party" funds in a very short amount of time.

Sunday, after nursing my hangover, we are to drive home and immediately begin our week long renovation of the kitchen, which I've been preparing for since April. Monday, the dumpster get's dropped off in the morning and Demo begins, so Sunday will be mainly cleaning house, moving things around, and packing away all the dishes/etc. to store until we're finished. If anyone is in Western MA and willing to work for beer next week, send me a PM! Smiley: laugh

Friday: Going to the Del Mar Fair with my parents, Ray and the kids.
Saturday: Heading to Old Town to take part in the 4th of July festivities in that area. They go for an old-fashioned Western wagon-wheel type of celebration so I thought that would be cool for the kids to experience. But we're watching the fireworks aboard the USS Midway in the San Diego Bay. Best place for fireworks because you can see all the other fireworks going off in all other parts of the city.
Sunday: Rest. I may have to work. We'll see.

I've bagged most of the Presidentials in the White Mountains. Yeah, if it's raining, above tree line won't be very fun.

Happy Anniversary Tare, and woot gratz Nexa on selling your house!!!

Quiet weekend (wait... what's that?). I finally got the go ahead to go out in public with Soren so the boys and I, having been cooped up for 3 weeks, celebrated by going to Target and getting Xaviers school supplies and headed to a kids play place for a bit. It was nice to let them run around screaming knowing it wasnt at home.

Today is Sicks birthday, as well as the day he asked me out 13 years ago (collective awwww, folks). He got his gifts on Fathers Day (collective Fathers day/birthday gifts) but he gets to pick anything for dinner tonight, and the kids and I are going to pop out and get him an ice cream cake from DQ (his fave.)

Nothing planned for Sat. Sunday midwife needs to pop by and do Sorens hearing test (although we already know he hears very well by the fact he follows your voice and jumps whenever Ashe screeches). In the evening Sick will take the boys to see some fireworks while I chill with the littlest guy.

Happy Anniversary tare & gratz to DSD (You're freeeeeeeeeeee)

I have no plans. I did suggest that we watch fireworks, it's just a matter of where & time. I have a math test monday and a math final on thursday, so I want to spend the weekend studying. (after that, besides Behavioral Statistics, I'm done with math.)

If it isnt too hot, Ill play with Suki in her kiddie pool. It's been over 100 every day for the past week and a half.

maybe I can live vicariously through some of you ;) I look forward to hearing the "after" stories...

Oh man, I just checked the 10 day forecast; 8 days of rain, and two of partly cloudy with a chance of rain. It's the same old MA I remember it being!

Happy anniverary Tare! and congo-rats on housy selling Nexa!

I'm just relaxing from last night, A.k.a. "the unscheduled government mandated trip from hell". One of my duties in the IT department is to run the equipment for any of our A.V. gigs (press conferences, large meetings, etc.) Our setup weighs literally 1 ton ( we weighed it on a truck scale out of curiosity) so it takes a bit of planning and effort, and a very large van to move it anywhere. We had one event tuesday, which they told us about and we set up as normal with good planning. then i get a call wednesday, at about 4PM "so you guys are setting up for the event tonight at 6PM way down in oregon too right?" me: "um, no?". So we toss everythign back in the van, having just packed it up from the last session, drive over there like madmen, set up just in time, and save the day. Which is apperently about when our van decided that it no longer wishes to live in washington and refused to go anywhere after we had already loaded it ith all the gear. So, we got to push the fully loaded V10 engine giant van out of the tow away zone, up a small hill into a legal parking spot, then offload all the gear into two smaller vehicles, then offload it from them to the storage room. Needless to say I will not be going to the gym, or even moving for that matter for quite a while.

This, unless the house mysteriously explodes or catches fire over the 4th, may possibly be my last weekend in an appartment. I'm trying not to jinx it by posting any pictures of the house anywhere, but it's a nice little 1900 sq foot place out in ridgefield, wa, about 1/4 a mile west of a huge nature preserve.

other than that, 4th festivities planned, and movie watching may occur.

It's a baby. Not too long ago in the course of human development, you'd have been out the next afternoon with the kid in a papoose on your back as you worked the fields.

Preaching to the choir, man. I was out within 2-4 days with Ashe and Xavier. But Ped wanted Soren in for 2 weeks due to a lot of flus going around right now and swine flu Smiley: oyvey I finally got the midwife to reprieve my imprisonment. So I am out guilt free wheeee!
