I make these every Christmas, although this particular picture is just off the web, I didn't have any of mine.

Saltwater Taffey. It has taken out a filling, and led to one tooth chipping. I still love it.

No images because I'm at work and I'm afraid to touch Google here, but there was this delicious multiple colored rocket sucker I had when I was little that took two crowns off my baby teeth before I was done with it.

These days, I don't even chew gum, I'n so concerned about my (very expensive) dental work.

You had crowns on your baby teeth?

Yes, they were molars. Gold colored crowns and everything. I know this for a fact because the adult versions of them were crowned and/or pulled for the very first time in the last few years.

I had one baby tooth that was positively rotten and had blackened, and refused to fall out for the longest time, much to my mom's horror. It plopped out one day when I was doing my part time childhood labor job (folding newspapers; all the kids in my neighborhood did it, for a quarter a stack.) I was sad, I'd felt like a pirate with it hanging on all snaggle-like.

Bottles with koolaid in them at night. I know a boy whose parents did that for years, and his teeth were black and half missing. His mother gave him koolaid filled bottles at night even when he was 7+

Slo Pokes were the filling-killer when I was a kid. They're just large hard caramel suckers. They were standard travel food.

Can you get these in North America? I heard the Space Shuttle's wings were attached with them.

Edit: Image fiddling.

Caram-bar is, you guessed right, caramel! Of the stickiest, but still quite hard type.
It's possibly also a wordplay on caramba-r. On second thoughts, carrámba is spelt with two "r"s.
