Bernard Madoff Gets 150 Years in Jail for Epic Fraud
By David Glovin, Patricia Hurtado and Thom Weidlich

June 29 (Bloomberg) -- Bernard Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison for masterminding the largest Ponzi scheme in history.

Madoff appeared in court today before U.S. District Judge Denny Chin for the first time since his March 12 guilty plea for an epic swindle that may have reached $65 billion.

“I don’t ask for any forgiveness,” Madoff, 71, told Chin. He said he deceived his brothers, his two sons and his wife. The courtroom burst into applause as Chin imposed the sentence, which is about six times longer than those meted out to the chief executives of WorldCom Inc. and Enron Corp.

With good behavior he might be eligible for parole in only 110 years.

Yes, he's all very sorry. Not much interested in giving any of the money back, though.

Nuts. I thought maybe he had gotten the hint from recent events and offed himself.

Well, maybe he'll hit his head on the way to prison and die in his cell the next morning.

I'm sure there will be more than one person at the prison who'll want to have sex with a multi-billionaire.

150 years? Are they gonna keep the corpse in there after he dies or what? Based on his age, he might not even make it for 15 years.

I dunno about everyone else but I always chuckle when I hear about terms like that. Why not just say life in prison?

(Yes, I'm sure there's some sort of legal reason, don't have to tell me)

Well simple logic could tell you why, even without knowledge of the law.

I guess I don't possess simple logic then.

I hope they stick him in the nastiest of prisons. He doesn't deserve club med treatment like Justice Kent is going to get.
