Yesterday I think was the first time in weeks that it didn't rain significantly in any given twelve-hour period. I recognized this opportunity and had Thom outside for most of the evening, but now it's looking like another inch and a half coming down today. At least the stream bed I dug out last month is keeping intact and not flooding into the yard (although the yard is still flooding due to sheer volume of rain).

Maybe this global warming thingy has changed the climate enough to bring monsoons to the Northeast? I turned on ESPN earlier and saw Tiger Woods rowing a canoe down a fairway at Bethpage...

It's the first implementation stage of the global Slug Takeover.

We've been getting quite a bit of rain here as well. The garden is blowing up but I havn't been able to get out and run after work a lot lately.

Yeah, I did see a few slugs crawling around on the trunk of the tree ot in front of the house. Along with a bright orange salamander.

We have a deck full of tomato plants that are beginning to run wild like kudzu.

Soon I'll have to cut down some more trees and start work on the ark myself.

Elinda,

Have you ever tried running in a park up and down muddy hills?

I have, but it's been a while since high school cross country.

In one season, we started x-country in August with 101-degree, 90% humidity weather. Kids were passing out left and right. We finished in November in 34-degree weather with 2 inches of snow on the ground. My school's team was the only one that was still wearing just the track outfits - no spandex pants or undershirts.

I'm on Long Island (NY), and we've been getting drenched for weeks. My yard backs right up against a river, and is normally pretty damp. With all the rain we've had, half of my backyard is so gelatinous that I don't dare try to walk on it.

It's also ruined the first few months of ownership of my new motorcycle (Honda ST1300)... decent riding weather has been infrequent at best. I'm hoping it will clear up a little bit this weekend, since in the finest liberal, pinko-commie tradition I'm taking the bike to go camping up at the Clearwater Festival , and steady rain would suck.

A few of the areas around Pittsburgh were flooded yesterday. Several counties have declared a state of emergency. I slept through the whole thing. Sometimes it's nice living on a hill.Smiley: grin

We've had zero inches of rain, total, over the last two months. According to weather.com, we expect about 0.25 inches during that time, so it is not really far off average. All the high temperatures have been between 68 and 73 Fahrenheit. Housing is still a bit pricey, but I do live in paradise.

We have had all sorts of storms. And hot, hot weather.

My garden went from anemic to jungle in 36 hours. I have squash with leaves that were maybe an inch across to leaves twice the size of my hand within a weekend.

Can't speak for paradise but apparently it's heaven for the veggies Smiley: grin

It didn't rain all day yesterday. The rain just started again about half an hour ago. At this rate, we'll have basketball-sized tomatoes rolling around on the deck by August.

I think the monthly rainfall here so far has already surpassed Seattle's annual average or something silly like that.
