Debo,

Really? You still think this is a permanent arrangement? It's a one-night special report. This has nothing at all to do with the White House taking over the media, or even ABC news.

Ask yourself if ABC ever did anything like this with any of the policies W was pushing.

Hey Debalic, did ABC ever run a special report from inside the White House during Dubya's presidency?

I have no idea.

Wow that statement is beyond scary.

Statements like that explain this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm1KOBMg1Y8

And make me lose sleep at night and explains exactly why something needs to be done about our public school systems asap.

This is not a Republican or Democrat issue, this is about the main stream media allowing the government to run a infomercial without disenting views about the healthcare system they want to control just weeks after NBC ran a 2 night special that was nothing more than an episode of "cribs" disguised as news.

This is about the media "cheerleading" on the sidelines for a politician they largely voted for (a politician I might add that before being elected to the highest office in the land had never ran a business) wanting to control and re-shape one of the greatest healthcare systems on this planet a healthcare system that is approx 1/8 of the US Economy.

And you see nothing wrong with that? It's just one night..........

I think the ignorance of the political system is characteristic of stupid people in general rather then having anything to do with party affiliation.

Hehe... for being the "most informed voters" they could find, I knew the answer to every one of those questions. Hell, I could even go the bonus round and say that Obama didn't claim that his "policies would bankrupt the coal industry" but rather said that a power company attempting to build a new coal-fired plant using old technology under new emission standards would bankrupt itself through fines & fees. However, the point was to say that new technologies and development would make updated plants fesible.

Gee, I guess it's too bad I wasn't questioned for that video, huh? Not that I'd have made it to press, obviously.

The ironic thing is that you watched a video full of cherry-picked people and edited statements and thought "Wow, this is really teaching me a lot about media manipulation!" Smiley: laugh

Actually the Ironic thing is you completely missed the point of my original post.

While you were bragging about your superior intellect you failed to even begin explaining why the "main stream" media turing over thier news organzation to the White House even for one evening so that they could do in essence nothing more than a infomercial doesn't scare the hell out of you.

I never said my intellect was superior, I said that the video was obviously selectively edited and cherry-picked to give a false impression. One that you ate up with great gusto so you could say "Lookit dese folks! LOLOLOL!!!" If I wanted to sell my intellect as superior, I'd have laughed at the video and called them all retards.

Great work missing the point, though.

Because it's based off a false premise. ABC isn't "turning over" anything (although it's great that you bought right into that sound bite). By this logic, when some news show pops by the Pitt/Jolie residence and talks to them about starving kids in Africa and what we need to do to help them, they've "turned over their news organization" to Angelina Jolie.

You're going to have to build the "turned over" case better than that before you want me to answer why I'm not jumping at spooky shadows.

Your comparing a celeberity interview to the government being given free airtime by the media to push thru thier view on healthcare reform?

And that same media station is refusing to allow even a paid ad that has a alternative idea

If you are dying and in an ambulance there is a hospital near here that will not let the ambulance pull in unless you have insurance.

Don't get me wrong I don't like Democrats, I don't share many of the beliefs they stand for. But if this goes through maybe I won't have to be afraid to go to the hospital anymore. Communism, Socialism or not I have to agree with the democrats on the Health bill.

Jophed,

What do you think of the fact that ABC isn't even allowing PAID ads by the GOP stating their own position on this?

I call it state controlled media.

If ABC is making that decision, I call it free enterprise. If they're being told not to accept the ads by, say, the FCC, then yeah. Problem.

I'm trying to determine the exact definition of "handing over control". You're not giving me one. Give the the actual technicalities here of what makes this "handing over control" but allowing someone else to adovcate without rebuttal is not.

ABC says that it doesn't run "issue ads". They also didn't run Obama's real paid infomerical back during the election. What's your point -- ABC needs to make exceptions in their advertising policy for the GOP?

This is hilarious. The same people who cry and scream over some Fairness Doctrine boogeyman are the ones now crying and screaming that the GOP isn't being given what they think is fair airtime Smiley: laughSmiley: laughSmiley: laugh

I'm willing to bet that the ad department at ABC is willing to send a terms & conditions sheet to nearly anyone who asks. Maybe someone at the GOP should have done their homework before throwing a hissy fit.

And I'm willing to bet they didn't. How are we going discover the truth of it? I mean it's not like ABC is going to actually tell us anything.

I'll buy what he's selling, but only in three easy payments $19.95 and only if I call within the next 10 minutes.

Your theory is that ABC refused to let the GOP know their advertising standards?

Sure. Makes sense to me.

Little upset that your perfect day at the beach was ruined by some toe fungus?

EDIT: They would have more than one video ad.

I recommend refreshing until that gem pops up.

You need insurance get a job to pay for it. I think that food and a house are more important than healthcare. It isn't the governments job to feed me and put a roof over my families head, and it isn't their job to provide me healthcare payed by someone elses taxes. As I said get a job.

You'd be wrong. It's possible to live without a home. Go to any major city. It's a ****** life but I know a good ten or so homeless people by face now, and have known them for 5 years that way. They put up with more **** than you probably ever will, and they survive.

It's not possible to live with untreated cancer, or a limb mangled from getting hit by a bus, or ****, even sometimes the flu.

We have housing projects and food stamps for a reason. It's not the government's responsibility to ensure good quality life, but it absolutely is it's responsibility to ensure the perpetuation of life; a government that stands idly by while people ******* perish due to easily treatable illnesses is just incorrigible. They aren't your taxes and it's not your money anyway. You earn money in this country by stealing it from other people, either by convincing them that they need something that they don't, and then selling it to them, or holding things that they do need hostage from them until you can take their money for it.
