I hate swim suit season. Srsly, less weight than last year and still cringe every time I think about bathing suit shopping. Sure, anorexia was bad for me and all that but damn I had a bangin bod.

I'm thinking about buying a swimsuit and starting swimming again, it's meant to be a great way for whales me to exercise .

Sadly, I can't find anything that looks good, I think I might go for a tankini, although my boobs mean I'd have to have something underwired and strapped tighter than an asylum inmate in a straightjacket, and if I find a top I like, I can't find shorts to match .

And I want shorts, not panties . I have a big ***** and the more that is covered the better .

Eh, I'd love to get my swim shorts on and go for a swim, but I can't stand how I look with such little clothing (As a bloke, am I supposed to care about that really? Smiley: lol). I wear jeans/shirt pretty much full time besides in bed obviously.

I don't know, maybe I'll be forced to go to the beach or something Smiley: glare

I sympathise Katie. I'm sunbathing in my bikini but thats not in the open public and I need to lose a few pounds.

I love shorts, I bought 4 pairs for the summer of various colours, along with some short skirts and 3/4 lengths. Classic Birkenstocks have come out the closet Smiley: smile

Fatal, I use tankinis and the like for running. They hold me fairly well. Have you been to a sports shop that stock a large range?

Or a quarter inch of rubber in the more wintery months...

But then again I don't eat **** food out of buckets and I get a lot of exercise.

I wonder if varus would take me out on his boat?

Like he could afford me...../lol

I'm confused why Varus and your own semi-nude figure are associated in your mind..?

It was more him saying that Mrs. Obama is obese that got me on the train of thought about bathing suits and how I cringe when I walk buy them in a store.

I've never in my life been comfortable in a bathing suit, regardless of weight, tan lines, cut of suit, etc. I always feel unattractive. That said, now that I'm 30 and have a kid, I think, **** it, I probably look pretty good for 30 and for having a kid so the rest of you can just go to hell if you don't like it.

I've gotten to the point now, where if I can go to the pool 9 months preggers and feel ok, I just *might* be doing good by the end of summer when I can go back and swim again. I'll never be able to do a bikini ( no matter how good my body has looked over the years I just never felt right in those) but I'm thinking my next swim suit purchase is going to be a nice deep red one piece.

To be fair, I used, many moons ago, to have a figure that I, personally would kill for again . Of course, at the time , I hated it, and insisted I was the biggest, fattest, ugliest thing on the planet . I wish I could have skipped teenage emo-ness, had a bit more balls then, and said **** it, I like me .

Sadly I didn't, and now have at least 5 stone I want to shift . It's a pain in the ***** and its going to be hellishly slow, but I will get there . Theres actually a really cool gothic fashion shop near me, my eventual goal is top buy a dress from there, and their idea of an (XL) is a size 14 .

Gwyn, yeah, I think I'm going to buy the tankini top I like, and just buy black cycle shorts actually , seems the easiest option .

Meh, I think I'm doing ok. That being said, I have made a pact with myself never to get heavier than a 125lbs and so far I have stayed below it. I am getting into my gym routine and finding that I quite like it.

Now, if only I could stop snacking. :(

What do you tend to snack on ? As I said, I am losing the weight very slowly (I want to allow myself a fighting chance to tone up at the same time and avoid saggy skin) .Perhaps there are lower fat alternatives you would like that would work ?

I like cheese and crackers. I'd eat it every night if I could.

Oh, and beer. Sweet beer. (Is that a snack?)

retro bathingsuits seem to be pretty cute and can help larger figures.

I can sympathize about preggo and going to a pool. DSD is braver than me, I haven't been able to. (even though I have a gorgeous black maternity suit)

Katie, you are in TX, you will never look "too fat" here :P

Cheese is my big weakness too! I'm not sure what diet plan you are on, but for me, I found that ditching block cheese in favour of foods with cheese where I could calculate the calories worked . Also, in the uk, you can buy net bags with 5 or 6 tiny sticks of cheese in, I used to get those, and have one stick a day and slowly nibble it .

Beer has some negative effects in the alchohol unit (again, I'm speaking purely from the vantage point of weight watcherss) but you can generally make space for it by stocking up on 0 point veg .

Do you follow a particular diet plan, or is it more just a general intention to lose weight ?

I don't follow a diet plan, and I'm not trying to lose weight. I'm just trying to maintain where I am. I have been fortunate in life so far that I've been able to pretty much eat whatever I want and rarely exercise and stay pretty trim. Now that I'm in my mid-30's though I can really sense a shift. I have to start changing my attitude or I'm going to start pudging up and getting unhealthy. Part of that is drinking less (gasp!) and eating better. The bigger challenge, or so I thought, was hitting the gym but I am on a roll. A month of exercise no less than 3 times a week!! :)

I need to start a weights program but have no idea what I'm doing. I'm a gym loser.

I'm rubbish with structured excercise, but me and my daughter have a system where we put on a cheesy 80's CD and dance for the duration. My daughter is 6, and skinny as a rake for her age anyway. I do know she eats well though, so I tend not to worry , and she seems to enjoy laughing at me making an idiot of myself with my attempts at dancing . (Imagine a drunk hippo, that's been smoking pot, and has it's feet encased in cement blocks, and you're halfway to the horror!)

I actually think it's harder to maintain a weight than lose it, a lot of the time, because often you've not had time to build up a structure of how you eat, and what your weak points are . You seem very on top of it though in recognising cheese and beer , so I'm sure you'll do well .

Tare is hawt and I can honestly say she doesnt need to worry about her looks in a bathing suit Smiley: nod
And Niobia, when you live in an area where we've already had the real feel index of 102, you get very brave and go to the pool. Plus with 2 boys who love to swim, I'm just too busy to care. I can look around the pool and see a lot of people who make me feel good about myself even as preggo as I am. My weight this pregnancy has honestly been amazing, and while it's now stretched out a little bit, I didnt even bother getting a maternity suit this time around. Plus, I figure it will be a good reason for me to buy me my little red suit when my tummys retoned in a few months Smiley: grin

Ahhh, but the exercise. I'm looking forward to the time where I can actually go swimming by myself again and do my laps. I miss zoning out and just swimming without worrying about the boys. In due time. In due time.
