You're president. Surely Obama has to know muslims are a very small percentage of americans. Good to see we can talk about Obama's muslim heritage now that the election is over.

The blogger's numbers are off, anyway. There are over seven million Muslims in the United States (which, yes, is a small percentage of the U.S. population, but that begs the question).

That puts us behind Syria, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, and Egypt if you assume that everyone in those nations is Muslim. It puts our Muslim population well ahead of the rest of the Middle East in terms of raw numbers. We're behind Indonesia as well.

I didn't check European countries' Muslim population, though. Obviously we'd be well behind Turkey.

If we have the 24th highest number of Muslims (assuming you count Muslim Americans) then we are 24th in a list of about 195 countries world wide. So we're in the top 25.

What's your point anyway?

The US could be #96 on the list and it would be technically accurate to say we're one of the most populous nations of Muslims (being just over the 50% mark). Being in the top 15% makes it more than technically accurate, it's just plain correct. The US has more Muslims than 85% of the nations on the planet (I think it was really 13/87% but 15/85 is a nice round number).

Is Obama ever going to say anything positive about the US?
Obama is trying to reassure the Muslims that America is not anti Muslim, despite the image that has been projected in the past. This is a good thing. This is what we want.
