I gotta get this off my chest...
For those who have ever traveled by air with a pet, maybe you will understand more.
I am traveling from Mexico City to Toronto with my cat. I check out mexicana.com to see their restrictions. This is my third airline i will travel with my pet, same old stuff; kennel restrictions, etc.
So what you normally do at this point is call and register that you are bringing your pet (only a certain amount of pets are allowed on the flight). Now here is where it starts to get good....
Under "Service Animal Transportation Details" is says on flights longer than 3 hours you can not bring your pet on board unless it is a service animal. Now why the hell would they make this very important statement under service animals?!?!! I don't want to put my pet underneath for safety sake. You would think it would make sense to make this statement under the normal pet restrictions!!!!
So after waiting 1 hour trying to talk to a supervisor, the supervisor is still unavailable. "You can email to make a formal complaint", my flight is in two weeks, and it will take them how long to get back to me?!?! So then I get "Try this number sir" , 10 numbers later, and 1 wrong number given, still no supervisor.
Fine, I give in. It's not a long flight, 4.5 hours, I will buy a hard carrier and have my pet go under with the luggage. Still going to send an angry email.
**Warning, gets better here***
So I call the original number... Say I will want to register my pet to be on the flight in the luggage area. "let me connect you to someone else" . Ok..... Now I did skim through all the restrictions, but this
'Transportation is subject to space and same-day authorization. Pets will be registered on a first-come/first-served basis.'
means that you cannot register that you are bringing a pet ahead of time. The ONLY thing you can do is bring your pet on the same day you plan to leave and hope that there is room for it. If not, well you are **** out of luck.
YES THAT'S RIGHT, YOU WILL HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR PET AT THE AIRPORT ALONE. Or i guess not take your flight and waste hundreds of dollars.
I can understand that pets should be allows on a first come first serve basis. But for f's sake, let me register my pet ahead of time so I don't have to risk leaving it behind! It's not a toy, its not a set of knives, it's not fruit, its a living thing! How can I risk leaving it behind to god knows what they will do with it?
UPDATE: As I wrote this I still could not talk to a supervisor, they are too busy. Seems to me that there just isn't enough supervisors or they really don't give a ****.

And sorry if this was not 'The Asylum' appropriate. I have never posted a new thread here. So nuke it, delete it, move it, do whatever. It was just nice to get this out. Saved breaking some household items.
