Yeah... getting back to the legitimate question of religious freedom - I'm curious as to how long this family has been affiliated with this sect, as opposed to their "official" Catholicism.

/shrug. I don't see the relevance. The law does a pretty good job of ignoring cultural bias towards "established" crazy ******** over new crazy *********

I think I was wondering whether his parents had grabbed hold of an expedient sect because they couldn't sack up and see their kid suffer - and who would want to see their kid go through chemo when he doesn't seem sick at all? - or whether it was something to which they'd already been acclimated.

Just wondering, really.

Likely just idiots. I find people greatly overestimate the complexity of the motivations of idiots. The radio told me the mom missed a court appearance, though, and a warrant was issued for her kidnapping the boy, or whatever the reasoning was, maybe just a bench warrant to get her to appear, so apparently the baby slicing didn't work out as well as hoped.

Looks like Mom and kid missed a court date now

Quote:
New Ulm, Minn -- 13-year-old Daniel Hauser and his mother were no shows at a Brown County courtroom Tuesday and the boy's father says he doesn't know where they are.

A judge set the court hearing to reveal the results of a court ordered chest X-ray to look at a cancerous tumor.

A doctor who administered the X-ray says he told Daniel and his mother yesterday the tumor had increased significanly in size and the cancer has spread. The doctor suggested the family make a hospital appointment immediately, but they said "no" and left.

Daniel's father, Anthony Hauser, testified in court today. He told the judge he had not seen or heard from his wife, or his son since yesterday and he has no idea where they are.

I heard on the radio this afternoon an arrest warrant is out for mom due to failure to show up to court

In other Minnesota news, the lilacs are in full bloom. If we weren't having 45 mile and hour winds filling the air with dust it sure would smell lovely.

I spent a little time in Minnesota. I was mostly hammered, so whenever I think of the place all that I can really dredge up was seeing this local band who was relatively popular at the time; I think they were called "Trip Shakespeare." Anyway, whenever I think of Minnesota I hear the chorus to a song they sang called "Toolmaster of Brainerd."

I suspect that if you're not 40 and weren't in Minnesota in the late 80's this post was a giant waste of your time.
