I have to admit, it seems like I am enjoying the warming weather this year more than years past. I don't really know why, perhaps it is in part due to my numbering years. Or, contrary to the doom and gloom that predominates the media and water cooler talk, life is pretty good these days. While few can claim job security these days, it seems my postion is safe, at least for the time being. My debts are few, my savings account is greater than it has ever been. My immediate friends are also in good shape, two of them are expecting new additions to their family, both their first.

While things could always be better, they have rarely been as good as they are now. So suck it all you nay-sayers and doom & gloom types. And for those of you who are in a rough patch, look to the inevitable day where things will get better. In the mean-time, let me close by saying....

Haha. Bask in my superiority.

Close enough. I won my first golf tournament last weekend, and got my first sunburn of the year. My air conditioning just kicked in this week. Also, the college grads are celebrating the end of their school year with much drinking and the shedding of their spring layer of clothes.

It's summer in my book.

I'm with BT on this one, and I'll add a GDIAF.

Summer has been VERY slow in coming here. A lot of days we're lucky if we hit 60. Last time we mowed the lawn, we had to go three weeks without mowing the front (despite our embarrassment over the way it looked) because it took that long for the stars to align so that we had dry grass and one of us available to watch the kid while the other mowed at the same time.

But this weekend is supposed to be in the 70s, possibly 80s, and sunny on both Saturday and Sunday. I cannot wait.

The rainy season has officially come to central FL. I'm expecting daily downpours every day, precisely when I need to ride my bike home. Chance of switching my schedule 9-6 instead of 8-5? Close to 0 :-/

One of the great things about living down here is the fact warmer weather comes so much earlier than back in Mass. I've been in tank tops since March, already our community pool is open, and I love it. I've already got a decent tan, something I could never say before, even in August. Yup, can't complain Smiley: cool

I'd be enjoying the weather if the navy weren't cheap bastards and refused to turn on the AC till the very last week of may (which dont sound too bad for some, but it gets hot here real fast [sweating in April, yay]).

Summer is the pits. Heat, humidity, annoying insects pesting my every outdoor move. Add to that pollen emerging from every outdoor living thing that clogs my nasal passage and swells my sinuses...

...fuck summer with a splintery wooden spoon.

You need the pool open so you can escape from the rampaging swarms of fire ants.

DSD, what was the reservoir/swimming area you used to go to in Massachusetts? I'm not familiar with any local spots around where I am, and I'm curious. We don't have a pool, and our wonderful neighbor with the huge inground pool just looks at us while the lil miss runs around in the sprinkler, never offering for us to come over for a dip. Was it public? Free to enter?

Am I remembering the right person mentioning it way back...?

I, too, am enjoying the warming weather. Currently unemployed, I get to spend time outside shooting hoops with my son.

Hmmm, it really depends on where you live in Mass. I lived from Concord over towards Gardner. Forge Pond in Westford was great but Im not sure if you had to be a resident to swim there.

Walden Pond in Concord is well thought of, but it does cost to go and tends to be crowded during weekends and summers.

When I lived in Templeton (next to Gardner) there were a few local swimming holes with no names off of Queens Lake. I couldnt even tell you how to get to them, but I do know they were open to the public.

Otherwise we just used our local YMCA to swim. I dont know if any of that helps as again, it really depends on where in Mass you live. And tell your neighbor he sucks.

Ok, that's up east of Greenfield, and I'm down near Springfield. The local YMCA (Springfield)...well...I'm not too keen on having to park anywhere remotely near there, nevermind exit my vehicle without kevlar on. The only public swimming establishment is this lame sandy/dirty "hole" in what they call a state park. It's more like a long windy road where people ditch off into the woods to smoke/drink/etc. Pity there's not more around my area.

Thanks anyways, though. If I were closer to the middle of the state it'd definately be an option. As it is, it's only a 40 minute trip to Greenfield.

We have the rainy season here in the winter. Summer is just hot with no wind.

Winter is warm, rainy and breezy. Winter rocks. Plus the surf is better.

Well that one winter it rained for a month and a half straight it kind of sucked but w/e.

We have slightly warmer perfect weather instead of the slightly cooler perfect weather we've had for the last 6 months or so. I guess you can call that "summer". ;)

That's not "weather". You may just as well be living in a climate-controlled dome.

Yup. Just never try to go sailing. It'll end quite like The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
