I liked your OP, Gwyn. I didn't think it was xenophobic or small-minded. Inaccurate and simplistic maybe, but it had good intentions.

I don't think you're overtly PC either, I've always thought you were rather center-right. You read the Telegraph, you sympathise with the Country Alliance, and you'll vote Tory in the next election, right?

Actually, I was just looking for something to liven up the Asylum and it was not my true point of view in any way. It was, to be put it bluntly a vehicle for a discussion, I just did not intend the discussion to focus on me .... Smiley: mad
At least we ARE having the discussion mind you. And in the future I may just atart a discussion about socioeconomic problems and not gay or religious topics Smiley: snore That was the reason for my post, I am a little tired of the same old being discussed here and was baiting for other topics. In that, I succeeded.

And for the record, I am not centre right. I'm liberal. I vote liberal. I cannot remember voting Tory or Labour.
I do not read the telegraph per se. I just skim the times, telegraph, bbc and other sources for news.

I think my sense of humour is sadly mistaken sometimes Smiley: tongue

To Ickle Gwynnypoos.

Maybe I'm imbuing the OP with prior perceptions about previous posts and conversations. Baseless I'm sure.

When I read your comments about racism, tolerance, liberalism, I hear a Daily Mail reader who is guarded about how people might perceive your views.

I don't think for one second you're racist, homophobic or an monster. I do, however, hear someone who doesn't quite get why racism, and general intolerance are so wrong. You get that they're wrong, but it's like someone who's read the music, but never heard the song.

The main tenets of your views on racism, for example, appear to be based on countermanding tabloid jingoistic, closet-xenophobic hubris, rather than on the real impact of racism.

I just feel you're someone trying to do the right thing without understanding why it's the right thing.

On the plus side, you do have a nice smile and a fine ***.

Hugglez.

And, in a way, isn't that what really matters?

Probably not. But still, it'll get you far in life.

Liberal Democrats are considered centre-right by people around here. I've read that UK lib dems are like DE lib dems. Is that incorrect, or is the UK really that far right from a Middle European perspective?
