Done. My sister spent 3 months in Tunisia (if you don't know where that is, it's where they filmed the hover car scenes in Star Wars). Muslim population is 98%. She was treated amazingly well because tourism is loved in that area. Plus she had a lot of guys interested in her, because blue eyes were so rare and considered amazingly beautiful. They did have some stereotypes though. They asked why she wasn't fat and rude, because that's how they expected Americans to be.
She's going to Cairo, Egypt for this fall, so I can report back on how another Muslim country is.

Genuine democracy is pretty rare in the Middle East, so it's not really a matter of public opinion. I'm sure if you asked every single Muslim in the area whether they were okay with Israel they'd say yes. The issue is that a lot of the governments in the Middle East have built their legitimacy on an anti-West anti-Israel platform. For them to officially recognise Israel would make them look like hypocrites and probably put them out of a job. I mean, Sadat got shot for doing that exact thing. That's not exactly a motivating example for the other Muslim leaders to follow.
