An online game that allows players to stage fights involving Jesus, Muhammad and other religious figures was withdrawn yesterday after Muslim protests. But the creators have now posted a cheeky sequel, in which players must love all the figures equally in order to survive.

Private company responds to market pressure from zealous religious people - not censorship and not new.

I played that game a couple time. Mohammed is a squirrely ******, best played using the same strategy as any of the young Chinese girls from the Tekken series.

Remember when the Christians got all shirty about Monty Python and Life of Brian?

Remember the last time someone mentioned Israel and got branded an anti-semite?

Remember the last time a Muslim insulted Shiva and got set upon by a mob of Hindus?

Anyone else see a pattern forming yet??

Religion! Not always famous for the tolerance of its followers......

Sometimes games are just inappropriate, not saying that one was or wasn't, but this one might have been.

Although, we do live in a capitalist society. Aren't we just doing what we are supposed to?

It is sad that games or any media is censored.

Something to think about however; I've not played this game, but plenty of others. They're all about good and evil. If it's a Catholic game, you can probably guess how the Muslims might be portrayed. If a group of people want to protest it enough, and the producers of the game feel the protest is harmful to their cause they'll maybe rethink their actions. So really it's free speech at work. It doesn't sound like they were forced by any gov to cancel the game, and it was probably a dumb game anyways.

Actually, it was mildly amusing as far as flash games go, and it didn't really portray any of the selectable characters in any negative or positive light. This really was about a bunch of butthurt islamists. Sure, there are just as many butthurt christians, but that doesn't make it any less stupid.

The intent of the game was to make butt hurt religions factions. Why don't they stick to their guns?

Regardless, I still don't see this as censorship. Does the Organization of Islamic Conferences not also have the right to speak freely? Of course they do. We all speak out in protest in hopes of actually making a change. They did. The company pulled their game. No oversight organization forced them to do it.

So, while you may certainly make the claim that the Islamic conference needs to thicken it's skin, lacks a sense of humor, doesn't know how to have fun, sure, but to claim that they are responsible for censorship is just not accurate.
