I'll tell you what. I could easily be persuaded to vote democrat were Obama to do one simple thing; appoint a pro-life justice. He does this and come mid-term he'd have my vote in a heartbeat, everything else be d*mned.

Way to stick to your single-issue guns.

Kael,

That issue is more important to me than all the rest combined.
Not to mention, the pro-life stance goes along great with pro-war and pro-torture.

Pro-war? That's like saying you're pro-death and support muslim terrorist.

And torture is such a strong word for pouring water on someone.

Well, that's where we disagree. I doubt we'll find a middleground.

I'm not sure what this has to do with waterboarding but I don't think Obama needs your vote in 2010 anyway.

... do you even know what waterboarding is? Because what you just described isn't it.

Yeah, it's a bit more complicated than just pouring water on someone.

It's wrapping their head in plastic to suffocate them, turning them upside down while they are strapped to a board, and THEN pouring water on them. Hence, waterboarding.

If we were talking about sticking them under a pleasantly cool waterfall on a hot summers day, then it would never be considered torture in the first place.

Locked,

Do you?

You must not if you think waterboarding even comes close. Go talk to the muzzies about torture then get back to me on this one.

Again, comparing their torture to our torture is not a valid argument. Wrong is wrong.

Yes, I do. That's why I asked. What you described was not waterboarding.

I asked if you knew what waterboarding was (and you responded "Yeah, it's not torture!"), because you didn't describe it. If you can't even understand the process, I'm guessing you don't know what it is. Whether all forms of torture are equal was not what I asked. I'm wondering why you would purposely misrepresent what waterboarding is, and I can only figure it's because you don't actually know.

Much easier to build a strawman that way.

Plenty of things don't work very well, but we still use them.

HMO's for example.

To a point sure. It doesn't seem to work enough nor is it predictable about when it's going to work, so we really shouldn't be doing things like that where we can only discover after the fact if we tortured an innocent person or not.

**** even given a 100% success rate I'd still not want torture to be endorsed by my government for the same reasons i'd still oppose a perfectly working capital punishment system.

Luxembourg tortures with chocolate boarding.

They lay people flat on a board and lavish chocolate on them until they submit.

Of course, it might be necessary to torture 'em a little first to get them to admit to being terrorists. Then we can torture 'em some more with a clear conscience.
