You should have that printed on several thousand post cards and mailed to the family and friends of the 9/11 victims.

After that ( assuming you didn't mail them from your actual home address) you should have it printed on a T-shirt and walk down the streets of NYC.

If finances are the prohibitive factor, I'll gladly give you whatever sum is needed to make this happen.
Why?

Do you think the people who had close relatives/friends that perished on 9/11/2001 think we should cower before any airplane that flys over NYC?

Does supporting 'fear' and scolding our government somehow lessen the loss of that day?

I smell BS in the form of insincere sentiment being used to try and flame a grumpy old man.

No one died or was injured. Nothing actually happened.

Everyone agrees that 9/11 was bad and shouldn't happen again. This wasn't 9/11 happening again. This wasn't people wishing to rain fiery death upon New York just because they have a big ole conservative hard-on.

I'm of two minds: I don't dismiss those who say that the folks in New York have a right to be peeved by the event. But I also think Smash has a point in that the prolonged "OMG IT WAS TERRIBLE!" response to an airplane flying by is a big neon sign screaming "We're easily terrified and will immediately over-react in a blind panic to anything you terrorists want to do".

Yeah, and those terrorists totally targeted a 5-year old boy in a remote village in Verzcruz to start a worldwide biological attack. I sometimes think you're serious about these ideas, Varrus, and then post them just so if, on the off-chance it WAS whatever you were saying it was later, you can jump up and down pointing out that you totally called it.

Then your sense of smell is a bit off. Believe me, my sentiment was quite sincere. I personally found Smash's comment insensitive. He has the right to hold any opinion he wishes, but I and many others have the right to be HIGHLY offended by it.

I'm not trying to flame anyone, especially grumpy old men, hell, I am one. My opinions, which you're also free to be offended by: The fly over had nothing to do with Obama. It was, in my mind, an incredibly stupid thing to do.

Folks being scared/concerned seeing a low flying plane there are not idiots or scared little children. If I touched a stove and it burnt the **** out of me, I wouldn't touch it again. If a certain dog bit me, I'd always be wary of it.

Given what happened ( 9/11), anyone there that suddenly saw a large low flying plane and wasn't nervous would have to have some sort of learning impairment.

Well, there is a U.S. owned pig farm close by his village.

If nothing else it would make a good novel.

Flea was talking to some infectous control person at her hospital who is of the opinion (and I don't know how justified or supported) that Mexican authorities have known about the flu for a month but kept it quiet so as not to disrupt Spring Break season.

It's true. My grandma lived in London during the blitz. She talked about living how she lived for the moment and stiff upper lip and all that. She mentioned how Americans have been shielded from alot, accounting for someone like Varrus, who isn't even from NYC, freaking out when we act as if 9/11 wasn't the most important thing ever, ever, ever. Jesus, I don't react that much and I knew people in the towers. My friends in New York don't react as much as some of the hawks in flyover country.

You mean making a huge deal out of an airplane flying over a city? Yeah, it really was.

And I'm going to agree with you that it was a stupid and insensitive stunt.

However, if the public had been notified, it wouldn't have been a problem, although, I don't know why they needed a picture of AF1 flying low past the Statue Of Liberty in the first place. And if they needed it so badly, the technology exists to just create a picture that looks real enough without actually flying a plane low over New York.

This was precisely what I meant when I suggested in my OOT thread that they were overreacting just a bit. Why didn't you speak up then? Smiley: mad

I've just heard, on rush, that air force ones flight schedule is worked out days in advance. Yeah Obama didn't know what was going on...right.
If I was president, I guarantee I'd spend every morning making sure I know exactly where the planes I'm NOT using are going and what they're doing.

That certainly wouldn't be a waste of Obama's time. Not like he's got any problems to deal with right now anyway.
