Jophed,

If you're going to post something at least post a link so others can verify. Like this.

The flight was carried out by the Defense Department. The director of the White House military office apologized for the incident.

The FAA also alerted an official in the mayor's office, but he didn't tell Bloomberg, who said he first learned about it when his "BlackBerry went off crazy with people complaining about it."

The Bloomberg official who was notified was Marc Mugnos, director of operations for the Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management. Mugnos didn't immediately respond to questions about why he didn't tell the mayor; Bloomberg's spokesman Stu Loeser issued a statement saying: "He has been reprimanded and a disciplinary letter will be placed in his file."

To be fair though, if my title was "director of operations for the Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management", I might expect that the military flying a classified mission over the city would be communicated to the Mayor of said city via some method other than notifying me and expecting me to pass it along. Not that I have a full job description for that title in front of me or anything, but I suspect it mostly deals with parades, concerts, parties, charity balls and whatnot. I just have a feeling that if someone from the Pentagon called me up and notified me that they were going to fly one of the Presidential jets around the Statue of Liberty with a couple of fighters in escort, and not to tell anyone cause it's classified, it might not occur to me that I was the only person on the Mayor's staff informed. In fact, I'd kinda assume that this was already discussed and cleared before I ever heard about it...

Could be wrong of course. It's just that that title doesn't scream "Guy who manages classified military missions" to me at all.

Well, then you'd be a shitty Director of Operations for the Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management, I guess. Maybe both of you should show a little initative in your Directing of Operations.

New York wasn't shut down; that's just absurd. Thousands of people did not flee in a panic. A few hundred people in lower Manhattan and Hoboken ran outside, but it was a nice day and those office dwellers needed the fresh air and exercise anyways.

After all this time and you still havnt convicted anyone for it, you probably should let it go.

Biggest crime of the century, televised live worldwide, witnessed by tens of millions and still no-one collared for it!!!

A bit embarassing to say the least imho.

Six people have been arrested in connection to 9/11. I believe the other five are still rotting in Gitmo or somesuch.

Hey, if 1 person (not apparently directly involved ) had been convicted, and another 5 arrested and still being held without having been charged (so far), in connection with a crime as huge as 9/11 after this many years is considered a job well done, then my definition of successful police work needs adjusting downwards somewhat.

I'd always assumed that whoever flew the planes into the the buildings were doing so on the orders of whoever did the planning. Behind every suicide bombing theres a helluva lot of people who are far removed from the actual explosion.

An operation that big required a lot of planning. And finance. Seems pretty slack to me that none of those people have been caught.

But hey, I'm sure everything that could be done is being done....right? Smiley: dubious

Well we all know about W's photo op landing a fighter on an aircraft carrier so I'm wondering what you liberals think of Obama's F 16 photo op?

It had nothing to do with Obama, while W's had everything to do with W.

Anyhoo, Obama can't fly planes, so that photo opp is lost on him. However, he's been known to play some basketball & apparentlyhe can beat the entire Undefeated NCAA Champion UCONN Lady Huskies at a game of Pig.

Maybe... probably... what do you care? Are you worried someone will attack New Zealand and fly an ornithopter into your sheep?

You should have that printed on several thousand post cards and mailed to the family and friends of the 9/11 victims.

After that ( assuming you didn't mail them from your actual home address) you should have it printed on a T-shirt and walk down the streets of NYC.

If finances are the prohibitive factor, I'll gladly give you whatever sum is needed to make this happen.
