F 16 Photo Op in NYCFollow

#27 Apr 28 2009 at 6:39 AM Rating: Excellent
And as such, I would imagine that a single Air Force One plane at any given time (either One or Two) would be available for any type of emergency dispatch, as such this would be the only plane the President would need to be aware of or concerned about.

Air Force One (Two) could very well be in the shop for brakes, getting it's upholstery redone, or being retrofitted with a new 52" Plasma. This day it happened to be flying over NYC for a photo op.

Bottom line, someone didn't do their job (on a staff level), and the message didn't get across. Did it scare people? Sure. Should it be news for the next two weeks about how some coffee-pushing moron couldn't deliver a memo and this was the result?

Fire the idiot and move on.

Of course it did. Learn to read.

It wasn't Air Force One, it was one of the planes used as Air Force One. Past tense. Learn to comprehend...it's right there in print.
Er, Air Force One is any of a few planes that the president can be traveling on at any point. There's no single Air Force One. So yes, this is an Air Force One plane.

Technically there is no Air Force One unless the President is on board. Smiley: schooled

Almost as funny as how you understand none of the above?
#32REDACTED, Posted: Apr 28 2009 at 8:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I've just heard, on rush, that air force ones flight schedule is worked out days in advance. Yeah Obama didn't know what was going on...right.

You don't start a sentence with that. It's like saying "Don't read what I have to say!"

You were the only one questioning whether Obama knew what was going on or not. I'm glad you and Rush have figured things out.

Bah, beat me to it.

I have to agree that this whole issue was caused by a really bad idea coupled with a combination of fear and overreacting. Flying a plane of that size at that low of an altitude was risky imo. Not to mention that NYC is the worst possible place that they could have done this without a large amount of public notice in that district.

My kid's school lunch schedule is worked out a month in advance. Obama doesn't know what's going on with that either.

It's funny how Obama gets blasted for trying to handle the economy and healthcare and Afghanistan... but he's expected to micromanage Air Force One despite there being people in place to do exactly that.

Obama was just testing NYC's reflexes so he can let his terrorist buddies know if it's time for another attack.

Ok lets say Obama had nothing to do with it. Do you think a president should know how air force one is being used?

Yeah, the president should. If he wasn't informed of this, someone has definitly made a pretty big mistake. Way I see it, someone's probably getting fired, or at least reprimanded.

And what about the fact that this blunder shut down NYC and probably cost millions?

Like I said, someone's probably going to get in sh*t for this. It should have been made public before they did it.

But hey W landing on an aircraft carrier and saying mission accomplished...now that's news.

Not to change the topic, but what makes that news, is the fact that the mission was clearly NOT accomplished.

There are multiple Air Force One planes. If Obama knew, then he should have tried to make sure that the public was notified. He made a mistake, he's only human. Just because he's the president doesn't mean that he isn't able to make mistakes.

In the end though, this is a pointless topic to be focussing on. It will likely be forgotten by people across the political spectrum quite quickly.

Also, Rush Limbaugh is no more viable a source than Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert when you're trying to make a point. He's just less funny.

Um, you can use the word "multiple" for anything higher than 1.

No, I knew there were two. I can't prove this though.

Jophed,

I made my point. Obama has no idea what's going on with air force one and the people under him obviously don't care about scaring the sh*t out of one of americas largest cities.

What was really funny was listening to the whitehouse spokesman telling the press corps to check with the white house about this....f*cking priceless.

Nor should he, as Joph has already intimated. This is a non-issue.

I'm sorry for the collective PTSD of New Yorkers - more sympathetic than you are, surely, since it's a blue city in a blue state - but this is bootless.
