I know, tardy to the party.

My sister recently purchased an 80G iPod since her pithy 8G iTouch didn't have enough room. Lucky me, I got the hand-me-down (or hand-me-up rather, since it's my younger sister). Tonight alone, I must've spent $30 buying songs from bands long forgotten. The Toadies, Alice in Chains, Fatboy Slim, No Doubt, etc.

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. I think I may be broke by step 12.

Anybody else addicted to iTunes? What's the most embarrassing song you'll admit to downloading?

The only thing I've ever downloaded via iTunes was videos from here, free.

All of my music is either pirated or gotten from CDs I or friends already owned.

I bought my iPod off a friend for $20. I never download music for it off of iTunes though. I'm not about to pay for single songs.

I have had an I-pod since the classic 3rd gen I believe(the one with crap battery life), and have never used i-Tunes.

Either borrow CD's of mates or my mate says he can get me any song I want, I have no idea where he gets them though.......

I just download songs and rip cds and then transfer the files to iTunes.

Haven't paid for anything iTunes related ever.

I mostly use Spotify these days.

But yeah, Itunes is also pretty cool.

I've been using Amazon's mp3 store.

Not that I have a lot of moral high ground to stand on, but while I don't think Bono or John Lennon or Miley Cyrus will miss your dollar, I'd encourage people to at least pay the 99 cents for songs by independent, up-and-coming, obscure, or otherwise struggling artists. It's kinda stupid to complain about the state of the music industry, and then give zero support to a band you actually feel deserves or needs it.

When did people start buying music legitimately? I must've missed the memo.

Seriously, who pays for mp3s??

I've got a 2Gb Creative Zen, it's very nifty, though I don't use it much anymore. Haven't gotten any songs for it in a long time. I think the weirdest thing on that is Bruce Willis singing "Respect Yourself" but I've had that around for ever.

I do for groups I like enough that I'd see them in concert. Partially for the pittance they receive and partially because I want their record label to know that someone likes the band. I still buy CDs from time to time and try to get them from as close to the artist as possible (at a concert, from their website, etc) although it's hard and seven times out of ten their site just redirects to Amazon or some other 3rd party retail outfit.

I download as well, usually from defunct bands or ones where I don't really care if they propser beyond the one song I wanted. I've such a cold, harsh heart.

Not at all! Right of Conquest has been a leading international tenet for centuries. This is just a more civil way of exercising it and on a more personal basis.
That and no ones family gets slaughtered or enslaved.. Sounds like a win-win to ME!

I buy all my music on CD's then import to iTunes. I'm still a sucker for the physical.

When I can afford it, I do this. And use "Apple lossless" to import, no matter that it means I can store less songs. I can HEAR the difference between something stored at 136, 256 or 1016 kbps. For my most favourite songs, anything less than 900-1060 kbps doesnt' cut it. The music doens't lift the hairs on the back of my neck if it's recorded at a lower bit rate, and some of the detail/depth is sucked out of it. Even "simple" electronic music.

I really wish I could buy individual songs for 10c each, and Albums for $5. And if I"m buying online, I *really* wish for CD qualitly bit rates. I'd buy ever so much more music.

I am such a sucker for downloading TV series. Firefly was the first series to go on my iPod and then BSG (beginning with the mini-series). I watch my TV episodes while on the elliptical or treadmill.
