The governor's veto has been over-turned by both the VT House & Senate and now there's one more marriage destination state for same sex couples looking to tie the knot.

I'm pleasantly surprised. I had heard there wasn't enough support to override the veto, but I'm glad I heard wrong. Cheers, Vermont!

Man, this keeps going on this way and I'm going to have to find me a new cause!

The senate was a sure thing but the house was the questionable one. Last night, several Democratic lawmakers who had voted against the measure said that they would support the override out of annoyance at the governor. Both because of his declaring that he'd veto the bill while it was still in the legislature and because the governor treated the whole thing as stupid with his "they have better things to do" style remarks. So I guess they didn't agree with the bill but agreed with the governor's shitty attitude even less.

Congratulations Vermont!

Equality, one step at a time.

I wonder if Ben & Jerrys will make a commemorative ice cream.

"Equal Stripes" - Vanilla streaked with zig zagging strawberry and blueberry ribbons.

Are you going to the judiciary hearing on the 24th? Hannah and I will be there for the first couple of hours.

Why? Do you think that's relevant somehow?

Come on Varus. Get behind gay marriage. You can tax it like other "sin" taxes.

How soon until Minnesota allows it. Aren't they talking about it in the courts there too?

I care about that about as much as I'd care if he or she had blue eyes or brown hair.

Nice dodge and attempt to divert the conversation but you never answered the question. How do you think your question is relevant?

Every parent wants grand children of their own.

There is no reason that they couldn't have children. Once marriage is legalized, adoption will be next.

Nice try, though.

I assume from your inability to defend your question that you know it's not at all relevant. I figured as such, I just wanted to hear you admit to it. I know it must tear you up that another state has legalized same sex marriages and that lame distractionary comments are all your impotent little soul can muster but at least try to be less obvious about it. Thanks!

Tulip,

You're so full of it and you know it. I could explain why but what's the point. If you'll lie to yourself you'll lie to anyone.

Or maybe, just maybe, there are people out there who really don't care if their kid is a homosexual or not.

Shocking, I know.
