President BOWS to SaudisFollow

#77 Apr 07 2009 at 4:49 PM Rating: Good
While bowing would be just fine after all, a mistake is just mistake(though even if it were culturally appropriate it was kind a bit low of a bow). Obama's team apparently said now that he wasn't bowing, he was leaning to give someone shorter a double-handshake or some silly thing.

Meaning either Obama leans over very far for a handshake, or backed down against the public by just saying his handshake was mistaken for a bow.

At first I wanted to say crap like this makes me ashamed to be an American, but then I quickly remembered I'm a New Yorker, and I was content knowing I was better than most of the world by default.

Heh, I take this stance myself. I even said in another thread here awhile ago "My pride is in being a New Yorker, my shame is in being American".

Anyways, as for the Saudis, I don't really object to a bit of bowing and scraping. I mean, until we're no longer dependent on oil. Imagine the kind of real global collapse that would arise if the black gold stopped flowing across the Atlantic.

I don't know if you guys bothered clicking the link he gave us. Pretty cool stuff in that article:

Quote:
"This is simply the continuation of fellow traveling. It's to be totally expected. Leftists have prostrated themselves before despots throughout history – during the whole Cold War and now vis-à-vis jihadists in the terror war. 'United in Hate' crystallizes with precision how and why this dark process occurs."

Leftists prostate themselves "vis-a-vis" jihadists?

Quote:
Obviously, the queen does not wield totalitarian power and does not mete out sadistic punishment – with which a believer yearns to identify. The Saudi king, meanwhile, is a tyrannical entity to which Obama can subjugate his individuality – and through which he can vicariously experience a feeling of power and purpose. This is the process of negative identification that every leftist must practice and that 'United in Hate' documents is at the heart of every leftist's main driving force,"

I'm totally gonna buy this "United in Hate" book. Fucking Machester United, I totally hate them too.

Yeah, WorldNetDaily is the lulz. It's a righty-rag whose editors are too cowardly to own up to publishing a righty-rag, so they instead make lofty claims about their intention being "exposing corruption" and it being hard-hitting journalism.

It's editor-in-chief is one of the yahoos trying to claim Obama isn't actually a citizen and therefore can't be president. It's headquartered in Medford, Oregon which makes perfect sense. As I've said before, the only reason Oregon goes blue is because you've got one large blue city/metro area that out-populates the rest of the very red state.

Yup, there's one level below Sub-default, and that's No-rated. It's the invisible place where posters cannot pursue the despised-by-the-majority-here or the smited-by-an-admin any more.

Not to ruin a perfectly good inflamatory remark with facts or anything but Obama's great-grandfather was Kenyan, not American. Unless you're implying that he worked on a lion plantation in Kenya or something.

Well, not counting the Dunham side of the family. Did you meant that his white great-grandfather(s) was a whipping boy?

LMAO,

Quote:
The White House is denying that the president bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 meeting in London, a scene that drew criticism on the right and praise from some Arab outlets.

"It wasn't a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he's taller than King Abdullah," said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The Washington Times called the alleged bow a "shocking display of fealty to a foreign potentate" and said it violated centuries of American tradition of not deferring to royalty. The Weekly Standard, meanwhile, noted that American protocol apparently rules out bowing, or at least it reportedly did on the occasion of a Clinton "near-bow" to the emperor of Japan.

Turns out Obama didn't bow...or at least they say he didn't... LMAO.

Ash,

Don't get upset with me because the liberal wet dream of a president likes to give foreign leaders bj's. But then again you probably like that sort of thing.

Crap, I think I accidentally rated your post down. The touchpad on my laptop is getting slightly flaky after seven years.

Meh, whatever, no big deal. I've never once complained about my karma and I have no intention of starting now.

(but if you feel the need to atone here's a different post)

Honestly. I've watched that video a few times, and it really looks like he dropped something and reached down to pick it up. If you look closely, he appears to have something in his left hand as he's coming "up" to shake the King's hand.

Dunno. I just think this is kind of a silly thing all the way around. While I suppose it fits into some bizarre right-wing conspiracy theory about Obama being some kind of Manchurian Candidate of Islam or something, it just seems staggeringly unlikely that he'd tip his hand with such an obvious sign of fealty to his overlord(s).

I'm going with: "his blow dropped out of his pocket and he stooped to pick it up before anyone spotted it". Seems the most likely explanation really...

Not to over analyze and over speculate, but from watching the video a few times it no longer looks like a bow to me at all. There's a guy to Obama's right ( yeah, my ignorant self has no idea who he is, just that he appears to be Asian) He has his arm extended to shake hands with the Saudi King, just before Obama extends his hand.

Sheik Yerbouti then moves his hand away ( to the right and down) from Mr.NotObama. Obama shifts his torso and arms to his left and down, to intercept, throwing himself slighlty off balance. You can also clearly see Obama's left leg go up and to the right to counter balance.

I'm certainly no Liberal, but it really does look to me like nothing more than Obama got thrown slightly off balance trying to intercept the Sheik's hand.
