Things I like about Obama :

1. He lived in Hawaii and likes playing in the waves.

2. He really is a great orator.

3. He seems (so far) to be reasonably enthusiastic about

Ummmm........I'll stick to the two for now, if thats ok.

Who's next?

I'm watching Notting Hill and noticed that it's 3 years since a slightly posh, awkward Englishman met an enchantingly pretty American girl in real life and fell hopelessly (albeit briefly) in love.

Anywho. . .

You were saying?

#3gbaji, Posted: Mar 24 2009 at 2:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Bush was a better president though. Bush understood how to build an administration. He was able to put good people into the right positions. He understood what was important when it came to national security and protecting us from terrorists. He didn't fall over himself or his own staff.

Given the trials and tribulation of the times, I suspect that when history writes about George Bush, they'll rank him quite well among presidents.

When history is written. Unless you mean some person named history who will write a glowing biography of Bush, which frankly, is vastly more likely.

I like that he inspires people to hope, especially given the less than optimistic roads ahead.

#9gbaji, Posted: Mar 24 2009 at 2:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No. I think that Bush was a better president than Obama. How about you prove that he wasn't? I don't think you could do it. After all, Obama has pretty clearly failed miserably so far. Why think he's going to magically pull it around anytime soon? Meanwhile Bush consistently met the promises he made, even when everyone insisted that he couldn't do it.

Failed miserably? Smiley: lol

Face it, your rabid agenda prevents you from admitting something so minor as liking even Obama's haircut. How can you honestly worship that bumbling, incompetent twit? Of course we can't prove that Bush wasn't a better president, moron, Obama's still in office. And no matter how much you like to predict that he'll "fail miserably", your crystal ball works no better than anyone else's.

Besides which it has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, but nicely done.

You'd be right. No one can prove that someone who's been in office going on 90 days will do a better job than Bush. This is a good position for you, you won't be proven wrong for at least 4 years!

How so? I genuinely interested in how you think Bush was a better President than Clinton. Given your states policy positions it seems like Clinton would have been far more of a success from your pov. Enlighten me. This really isn't me baiting you, I just think you may have arbitrarily stated this without really thinking it through. Clinton's Presidency dramatically changed your life, Bush's barely impacted it.

#20gbaji, Posted: Mar 24 2009 at 2:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think this is a much more appropriate place to discuss this. After all, as several people have pointed out, Obama's only been in office a short time. Shouldn't we first establish some kind of baseline to judge him by? And I'd think that examining the performance of the Bush presidency would be a great place to start.

This makes sense. I submit that if thousands of people don't die in a terrorist attack on the US by the end of his first 9 months in office, he's ahead of the Bush curve.

Sound reasonable?

#22gbaji, Posted: Mar 24 2009 at 2:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Reagan's Presidency changed my life. Clinton just coasted along a smooth road laid out before he took office and failed to do anything about new obstacles coming up ahead. Don't confuse how things were during his term with his qualities as a president.

#24gbaji, Posted: Mar 24 2009 at 2:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I thought he inherited all that stuff from Bush though? So if there aren't any terrorist attacks in the first year to a year and a half, it's because of the national security and foreign policy groundwork of Bush. Certainly, I don't blame him for the current problems with the economy. I've restricted my criticisms to specific actions he and his administration have taken since taking office.

I've got a test I need to go take but I'm curious for my return: Am I allowed to actually make a list or are you going to try to refute every single point. Because I've little interest in going over eight years of ****** governing from Bush just to turn it into a debate. You can read pages 9-429 of the forum to get that.
