The extreme pro-life position says its okay to bomb abortion clinics since they are killing babies.

The extreme pro-life position says that a pregnant nine year old raped by her stepfather should deliver twins.

The extreme pro-life position frowns upon the use of condoms, since they prevent pregnancy, which spreads disease in third and first world countries alike.

So yes, being pro-life is actually being pro-murder.

No it's not. You can be pro-life and not support your extremist examples. Way to jump in the deep end.

To be fair you could say the exact same thing about murdering someone.

I've always thought that the abortion debate is a struggle for control at its heart. Control of womens' sexuality and behavior, specifically.

I think that's a little improbable, to be honest. There's no need to shout "Patriarchy!" every time a gender-related issue is raised.

That's a very interesting uneducated perspective, thanks for sharing!

So if I try and stop you from doing something, I'm not trying to control your behaviour?

Huh.

So, anyway, where does everyone stand on abortion exactly? OK in which trimesters? Why there and why not elsewhere or, if the answer is all, why then and not when born? What colour hat am I wearing?

I agree that a law restricting abortion would be about controlling behaviour, but every law ever passed in the history of ever is fundamentally a form of behaviour control, so the point is moot. I just don't think that the anti-abortion lobby is motivated by a desire to suppress women's rights. Perhaps a few are, but they're asshats who aren't representative of the movement as a whole.

Man, everyone says that. No-one wants to actually discuss it. This is why I never talk about abortion, it always boils down to "You're dumb and/or a misogynist".

I've never seen a "discussion" about Abortion lead to anything fruitful.

My thoughts:
I'm not gonna claim to have all the answers, so my beliefs on the matter go with what feels right to me. Aborting a fetus that isn't viable outside of the mother's body is solely her choice(though I think the father should also have some say, the mother should have the final word). Once the fetus could viably survive outside the mother, then it's a gray area that I'm still not sure about(except in cases where it's a matter of things being dangerous to the mom or other extreme examples), but I know I'm not gonna find the answers I need from anyone here. Regardless, I'm not a fan of abortion, it's just that I don't believe I'm the one to make that choice for everyone.

The one thing I'm absolutely sure on: More idiots need to use condoms and other forms of birth control. If everyone were doing this right, abortion wouldn't even be an issue since most abortions(if not all), would come down to those extreme cases often cited by pro-choice, which are much easier for everyone to feel okay about.

I'm not sure moose antlers qualify as a "hat".

And yet, they certainly qualify as headgear. Troubling!
