The other part of the post was funny too.

Mindel, I can't imagine people EVER leaving your guild!! Oh wait, yes I can.

Those people never belonged in the guild. Untouchable Sage was my brainchild, a guild founded upon the idea that if I could gather enough broken folks from these forums I could harvest their dignity and sate my desire to scream into a headset. And for a long time, it worked really, really well.

This would be more convincing if I hadn't witnessed you being all genial and sh*t.

Oh, I spent enough late, drunken nights with BT to see the real him. Honestly, it's pretty horrifying, but it didn't stop me rubbing my cunt the whole time.

So I made it 6 days before I got bored. I honestly ran into twice as many douchebags than WoW, I was pretty surprised. The depth and lore was great, the quests were retarded at some points (fight 6 reds at once for a regular blue quest?!), and I just found everything to be really clunky. Did meet some really nice people who let me peak around their guildhall though, that was interesting.

But hey, 6 days is a good for me. Usually I lose interest after about 2.

Ooh, that's harsh!

I started a bruiser on Blackburrow, if you change your mind Nepthys, just send a tell to Fritti. Got to lvl 13 in one day, practice does make perfect I suppose.

I actually started an EQ2 trial after reading this thread, since I was bored and looking for something to play. It's interesting enough, I suppose, but the battle system reminds me a lot of WoW, except for the little combo system. I also suspect that where I started isn't too popular, since I've seen some 4 people total so far.

Still, at least it's not the same quests I've done ten thousand times. There's enough differences that I'll at least buy a month's subscription and see where I am from there.

best place to start for a new character is the Timorous Deep. It's the most recent of newbie zones, some pretty cool quests, and very good gear rewards for a starting player. Both good and evil characters can start there, as it is considered a neutral zone.

If you're evil, Darklight Woods (off of Neriak) is also pretty good.

Although very true, I do find that the two old starting zones (the Islands for Qeynos and Freeport) do offer more explanation and start off slower than the later starting zones.

Unfortunately, SOE really decimated the lower lvl quests in the cities themselves, so it's not that easy for a beginner once they're off those islands. It's easy to get lost there, not all that many other players there too.

That's where my main character's at. Pretty neat place, Gorowyn is a PITA to get around in. I suppose its relative newness might account for the lack of people, anyway.

If someone wouldn't mind explaining, how does the whole broker system work? I understand you need to have containers to sell things, but what's the vendor option? I'd just experiment and find out myself, but the trial's still got a week or so to go, so I'm mostly stockpiling unused materials in the hopes they're worth something.

When you double click a broker, you get the auction screen, you can search for items to buy. You need to click on the "sell" tab before you get to the screen used to sell items.

You put bags in the slots so you can put items in the bags to sell. You either work at a broker or in your appartment through the board you received when you first bought an appartment. You can't buy in your appartment, only sell or browse through all items offered for sale. You need to go to a broker to actually buy an item.

If you put items in those bags either at the broker or in your appartment, there's a fee others have to pay when they buy those things. However, there are salesman's crates (player made, some given as veteran's rewards) you can put as furniture in your appartment. If you put the items you want to sell in those, other players can come to your appartment and they buy directly from you, no commission's fee to be paid. Some items are rare enough or sold fast enough or low enough in price so the fee doesn't matter much, but for the higher priced items, that fee can be quite a bit. Having that type of salesman's crate can give vendors an edge over those that don't use this.

Excellent, thanks for the explanation.

If you don't mind one more question, how does housing work exactly? I get the concept, I just don't know what happens when you click to enter a housing area, because the trial doesn't allow you to enter your house. Do you go directly to your residence, or is there an entire area of player houses?

You enter the residence directly, but you can (in theory, if all the other players allow it, you can place restrictions on who is allowed to enter your appartment) visit anyone's appartment. Or at least, anyone's appartment who bought one where you are entering. There are a lot of different adresses, the size ranges from one room to a whole house. And then there's the guild halls, those are very large. Plenty of room for decoration.

Oh yeah, you get the first small appartment for free, but there's a weekly upkeep of five silver. The larger the appartment, the more expensive it gets to buy and upkeep, there are guild requirements too involved and status. But don't worry about that just as yet, that small appartment is good enough for the first months or so.

The bigger the house, the more you can sell too btw.

Thanks for the help, Zieveraar. Hopefully everything else will become pretty clear once I'm actually paying for the game.

I suppose at this point I'll just state that I'm on Blackburrow, if anyone's interested enough to contact me or send me a guild invite (if I even can). Character name's same as my account.

I'm on there too, by the name of Fritti, if I'm ever one at the same time, I'll send a tell. I'm playing on euro time though, for some twisted reason I do enjoy the US servers.
