Why does Unca 'Bama hate retards?Follow

Last night Unca 'Bama went on the Tonight show and slammed mentally handicapped people by comparing his bowling technique to Naughtyword and trickybeck participating in the Special Olympics. While I get the reference when it comes to those two, Obama insulted a whole host of lovable and otherwise gentle people who are exercising their little hearts out.

Why does Unca 'Bama hate retards so much?

Sometimes they try to hug pretty ladies, but end up killing them.

Because they fucked up the White House from 2001-2008.

It's a legitimate concern. He shouldn't have said something like that and shame on him for even thinking it really...

I can see why its funny but come on now man.. hes the president, he should show sensitivity

I mean, it wont kill him, people will shrug it off, but he should issue (and did iirc) an apology,

Sooo.. case closed right?

Only because people pretend it matters.

It was politically incorrect and insensitive. It's something the average person would say, but the president should not. A big hit? No. But any politically incorrect remark is a bad thing. I'm thinking Obama just got wrapped up with joking and it slipped past his own filters.

That said, does it matter? No way in hell. Will people like Totem play it up? Sure. But we do the same for the right-wingers (who admittedly say a lot worse a lot more often).

Anecdote time: when I became an RA in college, I had to drop the phrase "that's gay" from my vocabulary which up until that point never had any vindictiveness behind it but was highly insensitive and mildly insulting. It took a few months of constant effort, but I finally changed it over to "that's lame." One problem... now I insult disabled people. Apparently that's not as bad, because I've never been confronted for it, but I do realize that I might at some point. Poor lame folk.

I dunno, Jophiel, it sounds a lot like "that's totally down", which would mean "that's totally cool". I think. What about "that's really special needs" instead?

That would be insensitive. He should change it to "that's gay".

Edit: I don't want to be filled with tiny pieces of metal, so removed.

It's something we can easily forgive him for... that doesn't mean it wasn't insensitive. I'm not aggrandizing the problem.

As long as someone comes along and is like: hey dude that was kind of an *** thing to say, and then bama is all: oh **** you're right huh, my bad yall then everything's fine.

Does it?

It's not like anyone can claim they don't have those thoughts; I just think that every time we do we should have a personal little introspective session where we tell ourselves that it's bad.

I mean.. that's what I do.

"Damn woman talkin on her cell pho... @#%^ travis that was sexist, don't say that anymore"

So yes shame on him for thinking it in the same way that I don't like women driving on their cellphones

How do you mean? I don't have thoughts like that often and every time I do what else should I do but reprimand myself for having them?

I don't want to accept them... that's just admitting that various -cisms can't be overcome

You could just recognize that it is acquired cultural minutiae, and not worry about trivialities.
