I have no idea why I'm so sad, and I know Smash will pick on me about it, but I feel really bad about her death. I know, I know, people die all the time, but it's still really sad.

I'm such a girl.

I had, but only because she's Liam Neeson's wife, not because I remember her from a particular film. Maybe I'm projecting her into Love, Actually, since he lost his wife in that film. It's true that I have a little bit of the crazy. ;)

Hate to see anyone die as a result of a freak accident. There's too much of the "life is unsafe, that could have been me" feel to it, I suppose.

I know her mostly for her role in The Parent Trap (1998) which I thought she did very well in. It's probably not her best work I imagine, but when I saw the news it was the movie I immediately thought of.

This. Kinda.

I've heard of her over the last few days and gathered that she was largely a stage presence than a screen presence. But I can't pretend to follow theater.

This was the first I heard about her being Mrs. Neeson.

I'd never heard of her either, so I can't say I'll miss her, but I do like Liam Neesson. He single-handedly destroyed the French police, military, and secret services in "Taken", which is pretty cool. Unless you're the *****, in which case it's not so cool.

Agreed, it wasn't even apparently a very aggressive fall. One of those situations where you hit something just right, and it does a lot of damage. I think a lot of people will simply feel bad because of the nature of the accident and the outcome.

Yeah, this. She was on a beginner slope, and everyone did the right thing for follow up really. Yes, maybe if she's been immediately picked up and taken directly to a hospital, maybe it would have been different, but you really can't fault the care she received from what I understand.

I never heard of her until a day or two ago. Then the headlines were something like "Richardson falls on ski slope." I opened it up, saw I had no idea who this person was and why a minor fall on a bunny slope was so newsworthy, chalked it up to a slow news day and went on my way. And then this morning "Richardson dies." I did a double-take, read the article, and found out she was with Liam Nesson (were they married? It said they had sons, but I never saw the word "marriage"). Seeing his role in "Love Actually" when his wife died, I feel really bad for him; he was amazingly convincing when acting, so I think his real grief would be even worse :-(

It's bad when someone with young children dies needlessly, reguardless of fame, money or any othre factors, those kids have still lost mom and that sucks.

Same with Jade Goode who as a person I have no respect for but I still have huge sympathy for her and her children.

She starred in that absolutely horrible adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale. Also, she was married to Liam Neeson, who was mine even if he never knew it.

So yeah, I really want to hate her and rejoice, but instead, very sad.

So I read that a helmet would not have saved her. But in the news article it stated both that: (A) the helmet only works at low speed and (B) she was on the beginner slope. I was confused. I was also surprised that people ware helmets while skiing. I haven't been in a few years, but I never saw even one. Now, according to that article, it is something like 40% of skiers?

I can't believe that a helmet wouldn't have made a difference. As an avid motorcyclist for the past quarter century, I've seen (and experienced) the difference between a minor spill with a helmet and one without. What a freaky accident though.

Helmets don't prevent the brain from rattling around inside the cranium. Which is why football players still get concussions all the time.

I've been really sad about it too. I think it was all so sudden and she was such a lively and thoroughly decent woman. Or it just all seems so random.

Thanks for saving Smash the trouble, haha.

If only Liam Neeson would let me console him. /sigh

This makes want to go skiing.

Also dyslexia is occasionally great, I read Leslie Nielson at first.

Surely, you can't be serious.

I rated her as an actress, and she was also on my 'most doable' list.

Tragic.

Anyone else minded of 'Love Actually' where Liam Neeson plays a recently bereaved husband whose wife died young? Smiley: cry

Does this mean he'll move on to Claudia Shchiffer?
