So maybe I'm playing up the story a little but this does creep me out Smiley: eek

Quote:
A film-maker is putting a mini video camera in his prosthetic eye to record a documentary highlighting the issues of privacy and the surveillance society.

Rob Spence, 36, says he will secretly record people for his "Eyeborg" project using a tiny camera, battery and wireless transmitter hidden inside his false eye.

Ew, ewwww and more ewwwww.

The interesting observation and the reason for my posting is this one

Quote:
"The closer I get to putting this camera eye in, the more freaked out people are about me," he said. "People aren't sure they want to hang around someone who might be filming them at any time."

Considering the Asylum recently discussed sexting and the problem of prolific and easy distribution of pictures I can see why this could be seen as a problem. I'd hate to think what a former lover could do with their digital library if they possessed a cyborg eye recording all they see Smiley: blush

Considering that London has the highest concentration of CCTVs anywhere in the world, I don't really see the big deal. Do you know how many CCTVs there are in London? No? Well, neither does anyone else. That's how many there are. So one more, one less...

Having said all that, it's quite an eye-catching initiative, I'll give you that.

Well, it's a different point of view (snerk) in that the CCTVs are all public, yes? And you can see them, and be informed of the fact that you're being filmed.

The pictures were different because they were, at least initially, provided voluntarily.

This moves into the area in between, where presumably private conversations and/or moments may be distributed for public consumption.

Cyborgs could truly become a reality?

Life like walking robot

Robot with facial expressions

I know this sounds cruel, but when they showed the rear of the facial robots head (it was empty). I thought of some particular people, G W Bush for one ...

I think he stole this idea from the movie Doomsday personally. The leading lady uses a cybernetic eye to record everything she does during a mission at the beginning of the movie after having her real one shot out as a kid.

Personally I think this is awesome. All we have to do now is figure out how to hook up electronics to our nerves and we can have a fully working cyborg eye. We could also start making automail as well!
