I got me some of my Obama-Money today. Ain't a ton but between Flea & I, the extra money per month will pay for at least two weeks of daycare each month.

That sounds like a pretty fair chunk to me. You should go out and buy a made in Japan big screen TV.

Saving money is important in these trying times.

No, but he's only there during the pre- and post- school times. Costs a couple hundred bucks a month unless there's some school holiday requiring him to stay at the sitter's for 8+ straight hours.

No, my paycheck this week (and to come for whatever future) was slightly higher than usual. Flea called me at work to ask about it because her's was as well. She also received a memo saying that it was due to the tax cut portion of the stimulus package.

Well lookie that! My paycheck went up a whopping $11.89.

Of course, the tax increases that started this year reduced that check $230.63 first, so I'm still pretty squarely in the hole. Thanks Democrats! I lub your tax and spend long time!

Oh, huh, well mine's the same. I'll just assume I'm being screwed as usual. Carry on.

Impossible, unless you have two jobs.

I'm looking at my paycheck stubs (online as it were) right now. That is the *exact* amount my net pay decreased between the last paycheck in Dec, and the first in Jan. I made no changes in terms of deductions (either tax or investments) from my pay.

It's possible that there was an abnormal adjustment for the last batch of checks at the end of the year as a result of a raise I received in November, but that's the normal pattern of raises (it wasn't anything special), and there's no pattern of the amount dropping after the next calendar year for the entire 10+ year list of paycheck stubs. It's just kinda strange, and I'll take the opportunity to blame the Democrats if I want to! :)

Nope (actually, they froze increases at my workplace for this year). My supervisor noticed the same thing on his check. And, as I mentioned, Flea actually received a memo detailing where her pay increase came from.

Did you make enough to reach the FICA withholding cut off? Because that would obviously make your early in the year paychecks significantly smaller than your later in the year paychecks, but you'd still be getting a tax cut. (Unless you were making mid six figures, but considering what you do for a living, that would be pretty astonishing.)
