Not only that, but the government needs to keep places like that secret so if it comes to it, they can do what needs to be done without public scrutiny. Some things do NOT need to be public knowledge, bleeding hearts be damned.

Yeah, probably. There are too many scum sucking Tories that love to torture people but can't face up to the fact in public. It's just like my father always used to say: "Can you get me a cup of coffee? Hold the milk. Cheers."

Kavekk, you've been even more of a non sequitur lately. Are you mining for lulz?

Leaders face a particular double standard about that. People expect leaders to pull through in the end no matter what the cost, but we don't like to hear about it, even though we know that unscrupulous activities are (purportedly, occasionally) necessary,

I keep wondering why I keep getting banned. H*ll I havn't used the N word here in well over a year. Near as I can tell that whole bit about wanting chicago to be the target of a terrorist attack rather than my own city did the trick. Funny how you can wish for the death of christians en masse, yet one off hand remark about wanting to see a major city under water and that tends to upset people. Who knew.

A straw doesn't have to be large at all, to be the last. In fact it can be minuscule.

This happened to Warmaverick too, recently. The thing that finally got him banned was utterly trivial, if you read it in a different context. It was just sitting on top of a fuckload of other admin notes and complaints, apparently.

What I don't understand is how varrus isn't IP banned or something. If the mods really wanted him gone that bad wouldn't they do something more permanent?

From what I understand, he is, but IP bans are incredibly easy to get around. Just google "ip proxy" and dozens of sites pop up with no configuration necessary.

huh

I always thought the mods were just putting on a show, almost like it's a joke or something.

Nope. On the bright side for me, I really DO enjoy having a small, controllable rabid troll around.

I always assumed he was just banned whenever admins were bored with no other bannings. Kind of on an assumption that he has/or will do something wrong anyway.

Well the whole thing is playing out very satisfactorily as one long running joke, and as there isn't much actual blood shed in the process, It's cool with me. ZAM is probably losing FAR more out on dodgy code than it is on wasted admin time on Varrus.

True, true. If news about those bloody concentration camps hadn't leaked out history would have judged the 3rd Reich much less harshly.

And I'll Godwin's myself on that one, tyvm.
