Michael Jackson to play 10 concerts in the O2 arena in London

I saw this on the TV news tonight and was gripped. During the limited time they showed his press conference where he looked very delicate and then shots from his trial, "balcony" incident and his last concerts.

I would love to see him live. If he was even half what he was, he was incredible and I'll watch some of that. Part of me also fears that despite his oddities and the fact that I would not leave a child with him - I remember him first and foremost as one of the greatest singers and dancers as I grew up. Would I come away dissapointed? He looked so frail, so weak, can he still spin and move and thrill on stage or would he snap like a twig?

Time used to stop when a Jackson record was released and we would all crowd around the TV watching "Top of the Pops". "Black or White", I can still remember the awe of the track and the morphing video. He was the prince of Pop in every way.

So I'm all mixed, do I try to book tickets or not? Keep the memories or make new ones and risk dissapointment?

Is this the Sunset Boulevard Tour? Or Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?

I still have "Black Or White" on my iPod. It wasn't too long after that that the world started really hating him, though.

I have "Want You Back" by the Jackson 5 on my mp3 player, just because whenever it comes on it never ceases to amaze me (a) how extraordinarily talented he was at age 11, and (b) how he was once a normal human being. Plus, it's a good song.

So... does Jackson still own the rights to any of his songs? Is he going to have to pay royalties to who ever he sold them all to when he does this tour?

Dunno, but he's still got a 50% stake in the Beatles songs he bought a while back.

I'd go see him, just to say I had, if nothing else. As a child of the eighties, he was supremely cool and immensely influential upon me. Without Jacko, I may have never felt it socially acceptable to fondle my junk in public, or give kiddos wine, or sleep with a chimp, or bleach my *****, etc etc.

Really though, I dig PYT as much as any song I hear regularly on the radio.

I wouldn't go see him. I'd be afraid one his body parts would fly off and land in my nachos or something.

That being said, I'm now listening to the Off the Wall album.

Ah, I thought he had sold off those too.

Yeah, me too. My guess is this concert stint is to generate revenue for his broke ***.

Wikipedia says he only sold off 50%, and Sony has an option to buy 25% more, which still would leave him with 25%.

What compelled me to look this up?

So, London now. Did he use up all small children in the US already?

According to this info, the 19 scheduled (9 additional appearances have been scheduled to meet fan demands) concerts have been sold out.

GwynapNud, did you get your ticket or finally decided not to go? Anyone else get a ticket?

Edit: And now it's ballooned up to 50 shows.
